It's one of life's subtle ironies really;

In the 80's there were tonnes of night horror movies with the cliche "I feel like I'm being watched.... arggghhhh!"

Nowadays we know we are being watched, to a limited extent, and nothing has changed......

I meant more invasive, like hovering over your house and peering at you in your backyard.

The rise of the drones has already begun. Any day now we'll just start seeing them everywhere.

As long as they're higher than 400 feet they can do it if they feel like it. Think of it as public domain airspace Blink

Funny story... if you have a wireless signal in your house someone who knows what they're doing can see exactly what you're doing (irl) within range of the wireless signal.

They put so much effort looking into our backyards and peering through our windows, when weapons, drugs, and all sorts of things come over our southern borders largely unimpeded. When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.

Ha! Global warming has thawed out Canada and exposed lots of mineral resources. Plus Canada has legal rights to the newly exposed resources in the arctic circle from the melting polar ice.

As soon as the US starts suffering from losses in productive farmland due to climate change caused by global warming, we're going to annex Canada in order to acquire farmland and resources.

You know what?.....It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it did happen, that's the scary part.

USA went to iraq for weapons of mass destruction and never found any, then the argument turned to terrorism when most of the terrorists were in afghanistan and pakistan anyhow....Thousands of soldiers and who knows how many civilians payed for the mistake that was iraq, not to mention the amount of money spent there( over 1 trillion dollars i think?)

Indeed, but you'll have to dispute it with the chinese, who want to buy up all the oil production companies operating in alberta, exploring the oilsands, and the goverment is considering all the pros and cons of such a deal.

The one that shocked me is that for the next 10 years, it'll take 650 billion dolllars to further expand the oil sands operations and deal with the rising costs of production.....It's more money than was spent in the oil sands in the last 50 years by comparison.

Only china has that kind of money on hand.

Now that i think about it, it makes perfect sense to delay the decision for the chinese investment in alberta as least until after the american election results......The Keystone pipeline project wich would bring oil from alberta to texas.

If canada makes a deal with the chinese, and they secure access to the vast majority of the oil, in order to export it to china as their economy keeps growing, the need for the keystone pipeline is rendered moot in tthe process, so it comes down to a competition between China's goverment controled oil companies and the USA and who offers a bigger benefit to Canada.

Canada has the resource so it's smart to see who offers more for it...Big smile

The RCMP once tried this in Canada, but in true RCMP fashion the guy took the camera from the tree and found a bunch of compromising police data on other cases that were stored on the camera's memory chip and phone the paper for it, while the RCMP had no legal resource but ask for the camera they left on his property back.

Not so easy as that though, as the chinese will be pissed if such an act is executed by the USA and may side with Canada( it's just because of the oil there of course and nothing more).....Then the situation becomes much more delicate for any economic sanctions or worse yet, military action by the USA.

I have a feeling both China and the USA will come to war between eachother sooner or later, as the former is just about to become the largest economic super power at the expense of the USA, who's in debt up to the eyeballs and will soon need to extend their borrowing limit, as the existing one is just about to reach it's limit(16.2 trillion), no matter who gets to be president in the upcoming election.

The US has to talk very gently to China these days as they own a decent chunk of the USA's debt( about 2 trillion worth of government bonds), are very well equipped militarily and also have nukes( about 300 of them are speculated)....You don't push them around like Iraq or afghanistan or Syria, and i personally object to China having a permanent seat in the UN concil( there's only 7 of those in total), when they're not even a democracy to begin with.

True, and it's another point of contention right there, since in a few years from now, it'll melt enough ice in the artic circle to allow regular shipping to pass thru it and not need the panama canal to go from the atlantic to the pacific anymore if the path is shorter up north.

Then there's the estimated 160 billion barrels of oil in the arctic circle area wich is dominated by 4 countries....USA( they own alaska), Canada( wich has a huge border), norway( has a little bit), and russia( also has a huge border)....We're already building more frigates to be ready to patrol the area when the ice melts enough....It'll be easier to exploit those oil reserves in a milder climate.

Goes to show it's all about the money and no one gives a damn about global warming or protecting endagered species in the least...That's at the very bottom of the list of things to worry about and we're going to leave a mess for the next generations after we've kicked the bucket....We have it hard, they'll have it much harder still.

It looks like it, but increased the country's debt significantly, cost 5000+ soldiers lives and some 30 000 soldiers wounded, wich some will have to deal with it for the rest of their lives( missing arms, legs, etc).....So if i was him, how the heck would i be able to sleep at night is beyond me....Ugh
