Everybody is doing freighter ganks in High Sec now ...

Easiest & most likely 'Nerf' to ganking freighters.
A varient on the proposal to nerf freighters base carrying capacity & give them some fittings.
At which point McStupid will fit max Cargo & get ganked, while McSmart won't. Then you can really start to say who is stupid & who is smart.

There is a difference though, incursions and FW cycling used to provide resources seeded by CCP, freighter goodness is "seeded" by players.

And arguably no reasonable (as in: aimed at profitable targets) amount of freighter ganks will murder market, so I think it will be fine.

I don't remember who posted it but I saw the neat idea of 1 trit double wrapped in a fully insured freighter. You still loose money I think but if you have gankers with a short fuse, you might be the one farming tears.

it is fine just dont fly freighters till after they buff them it is not that big of deal in a time sink you have nothing but time

Usually due to the low HP of a freighter and due to the fact freighter escorts are mostly pittyful (because it is boring as hell, if nothing happens) , it is often possible for the attackers to ignore the escort and still kill the freighter. It goes quick.

What can an escort do in high sec? Bump the freighter back in sentry gun range? Give more EHP with a Damnation. Will you see every freighter with his personnal Booster alt? no... Kill the suicide gankers after they got Concordokkened ... oh wai ... kill the pods of the suicide gankers after they killed the freighter? Pods warp quick.... Kill the wreck? That should be done more often or better steal it.

Something gonna change in CW2.0 (recent trend doesn't make massive use of alpha ships, mind you), but then again, throw enough stuff on it, and it will go boom. We are not talking about escort being able to make hauler invulnerable.

Exactly this.

Freighters with a proper escort aren't getting ganked, and you shouldn't be flying around with a crapton worth of isk in a freighter with no escort.

And I don't see CCP nerfing this because people refuse to accept that EVE, in some situations, expects you to actually play with other people.


In fact, CCP needs to create a pop up for everytime someone puts an amount of items in any ship worth a lot of ISK that warns the person that their freight can make them a potential target to would be pirates. If it's items that CCP isn't able to estimate, the warning should just pop up as a default.

Actually just make it pup up everytime you undock with any hauling ship; with the option to disable it. It's not CCP's responcibility to fix stupid behavior.



Gotta totally agree with Nat there

Common sense rarely previals tho and so we get alot of whiney posts about people loosing freighters with huge amounts of isk on board all flying with seeimingly no escort.

In the face of sheer stupidity and freighter pilots obviously looking to be nominated for some sort of Darwin Award I would have to say everything is working as intended.
