Has ice always been in highsec?

My synapses have been twinkling and telling me that ice has not always been in highsec.

My memory (please don't fail me now) had ice in null only a few years back? It was put back. I went through 10 pages of Google and couldn't find any reference.

Anyone any the wiser on this?

Opposite. Ice used to be in even more highsec systems. all belts at and above I believe .7 were taken out years ago.

It still is in 0.7, it used to be in 0.8 as well.

If it was ever null only, then that's further back than I can remember.

  • Ice belts have been removed from all systems with 0.8+ security standing.

Chased it up and saw change but can't find the reason for the shift? Was it to "promote" ganking or just limit supply?

NOTE: This is purely fact finding.


Have found when ice was introduced.

I remember ccp saying something about relieving stress on some systems. Jita had an ice belt for example. Same reason why lvl4 agents got shifted around in the past.
