With the announcement of windows 8 being aimed at tablets, is there any plans to make eve compatible with these devices.

It seems like the tablet is.slowly replacing the standard pc, with technology moving on what are the plans for eve in say 5 years?

Because of how EVE was coded back in the early 2000s, I don't see EVE being on tablets happening anytime soon.

It would make for "interesting times" watching miners lock and shoot concord by mistake.

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

Yeah it would create problems, my point was though with tablets slowly replacing the old pc,s what will how could eve adapt to cope, is there a reason why with tablets smart TVs etc people will (apart from eve gamers of course) still use a pc in the future?

The usual doomsayers speech. The only time a tablet will ever replace a old fashioned PC (including Mac) is when you either have the same performance as a modern PC which continues to crunch more and more calculations each generation, which just makes it even more unlikely or when you have a network where latency is a distant thing of the past which is just as unlikely.

I like it more than with a mouse, much faster and easier.

There is a third option. Use your tablet to play EvE on your PC in the other room. Works for me.

Star Jump Drive A new way to traverse the galaxy.

I would just go to the other room.

Or move the PC.

I am sure Steve Ballmer is going to be a tear generator for the coming years when the sale numbers of the Surface comes in.

I don't own a tablet and I am sure that eve will adapt, if I am correctly informed you could use a Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth headset. If I am thinking right windows 8 will ne the same operating system on desktops laptops and the new windows tablet

lolz. Good time to an Apple lit lawyer. Good for 10 years at least.

I'm sure that simply being able to SEE a tablet or phone is going to be litigated soon enough.

- We INVENTED VISION says Apple...
- God counter claims.
- Apple settles out of court after signing up with God and getting TM on "VISION".
- Rumours abound Steve Jobs set up the deal.

Microsoft furious and starts creating invisible tablets.

"They're really, really light" says Steve Ballmer at an interview. (Yes it is Steve Ballmer, we just can't show you.)

The tears....... Indeed...

Graphics => power and heat. Not sure I would bother with a tablet if i had to keep it plugged in to use it and if it got too hot to hold.

OTOH, having a graphics enabled tablet/personal heater might be more economical than heating the whole house.
