What to do in Reykavik...?

So I am planning a surprice trip to Reykavik with the wife at her birthday in March next year. I've been to Iceland before but realised that the last time is 12 years ago Oops and that things most likely have changed since then. My question is pretty simple, do you locals have any good ideas what we should do? I plan to go to Blue Lagoon, take drink somewhere along Laugavegur and rent a car to drive outside of the city to Gullfoss and surrounding area.

Where should we stay?
What sights are there to see?
Is it possible to find a smallish hotel in the country side to stay there for a night?

Thanks in advance!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

Awesome idea!

I am certain my wife would object though.

Iceland is an awesome land. I invite you to try the Bleu Lagoon, it is epic , you can drink some beers in the water. If you like walking you have many place to do it. If you like the nature you are in the right place. They have plenty excursions to ride into the land.
The Landscape is amazing , you will be in an other world. There is a lot of pubs in the capital city which serves good beer from Iceland. You have also very good restaurants in the city , good place for romantic love ;D. You can find many swimming pools into the country. Try to contact CCP's developers to drink some beers in the city if they have time.

Try first to go to the capital Reykjavik, and to sleep into a rent house It is cheaper. if you want I can give you some telephone numbers of family who are very kind in Reyk.

Next, try to get out from the capital and to go to the countryside. You may find many activities which are better and better every time.

If you are looking for peace and good landscape you are in the right place. People are very kind.

Sorry for my delay :)

Greetings.

Trainwrecking languages together makes it hard for people to find what you are talking about.

It's Blue Lagoon in English, and Bláa lónið in Icelandic.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind for a smallish hotel in the country but I would highly recommend it:

http://www.hotelranga.is/

This is where I had my wedding reception and it really is a wonderful place. Right out in the middle of nowhere, if you are lucky enough to get the Northern Lights while you are there you can sign-up at reception and they will call you at the first sign of a light show so you don't sleep through it. The whole place is a big log cabin with just over 50 rooms.

Also, I hope that you and your wife have a wonderful visit, I fell in love with Iceland the first time I came here for FanFest and felt so lucky to move here 3 years ago.

The suites are amazing, we managed to get to go look in each of them when we went to view the place, they were totally stunning. If I had money to burn I would go there all the time tbh
