Pulled this snippet off another thread because it's a really good question.

The care bears never get to the point where they can fight back effectively before they leave the game and are replaced by new care bears. That is exactly why the new crime rules will be such a joke. Not only do they have a lack of skill points, but also lack in game play skill.

I'd be curious to see the average Eve time for a highseccer. I doubt this would be anywhere near true.
In fact I'd almost consider the reverse in that highseccers have less twitch speed and thus less likely to burn out/get bored.

In the absence of CCP answering the question (are they even able to?)

1) Do you consider yourself a highseccer or more accurately, a carebear?
2) If you do, how long have you been playing?

(in fairness, I'm going to call myself a carebear and say 3 years)

EDIT: In light of some of the comments made, I need to clarify. (Just got outta bed so could not address it earlier sorry).

I'm using carebear to mean predominately - HIGHSEC >> PVE, INDY. - whether you kill/get killed etc. is too subjective.

Currently a care(ish)bear with some really embarrassing loss mails because I utterly fail at some of the things I've tried, just over 3 years.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

You'll need to define "carebear" for this thread to have a shred of objectivity.

Are you talking about people who do pve and industrial content, or people who want to rid the game of non-consensual interaction?

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Two main characters ( I don't consider any to be 'alts'; each has their own purpose).

This one here mines in HiSec and has tried mining in LoSec and proved that it is quite possible to lose money mining.

Another character wanders in and out of HiSec and into LoSec all of the time and is trying HiSec Piracy as somone has also previously mentioned.

When this other lad is in HiSec he certainly isn't being a CareBear at all. Anything but.

Id say the second one.

Anyone who olny plays PVE and thinks that they should not be engaged in PVP at all in high sec while thinking that having to change their fit to adapt to said PVPers as destroying their playstyle is in my book a carebear.

Semi-retired PvP'er now chilling in empire for the last couple of months waiting to see if the new crimewatch changes ignite the spark again here.

I usually spend a year at a time in 0.0 then either get bored or find there are blues I'd rather see neut / red, so go back to empire for a few months until 0.0 changes again. Would prefer to be in low-sec but that's still broken after all these years.

This time though I don't see any reason to go back to 0.0 again, the new incoming changes look as if they could be fun. (at least more fun than pressing F1. F2 etc every so often in laggy fleet fights). You can fit a ship easily in one station in high, no huge blobs....and the ability to pick your own blues / wars.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more people who prefer a really short blue list or more independent gameplay style returning to empire as the two big coalitions clear out (or blue) the rest of the 0.0 alliances if the new crimewatch stuff turns out well.

Carebear : people who avoid and afraid of being involved in pvp in any way possible

Carebear : people who don't actually do pvp but fine with other people doing it and accepts that conflict does exist and a core part of this game

Carebear : people who does pvp, but deals with pve stuff a lot of time as well, including industrial and mining

Which definition of "carebear" are used here?

3 years of carebearness here.

Though I've tried WH, low, null for few months - but they require too much dedication and concentration while I need mostly relaxation.

edit: I've accidentally an English.

Carebeared for 4 months, then ran away screaming. Never looked back.

But as the definition of carebear isn't answered, I'm still PVE-ing for ISK to fund my pvp habit. Does that make me a carebear?

Carebear. Not particularly interested in PvP, and generally try to avoid it unless someone's asking for help on a hole. Want to get into it more as it seems to be a large part of the endgame, but generally prefer indy activities. Couldn't care less about my killboard but working towards helping out competently in fleet activities and, of course, minimizing losses, which requires some experience with PvP. I'm not looking for PvP when I log in, though, which I think puts me in the soft and cuddly basket.

4 years play on and off, with the most intense period being the last 1.5 years.
