Hello

I'm thinking about getting a ship that gets armor repair bonus, so that active repairing would be optimal strategy. What ships are there from battleship down to cruiser?

It is a decent question.

The only one that immediately comes to mind is Legion, but there may be others. I know, it is shocking that I've not memorized the bonuses for every ship yet.

EDIT: Updated!

* Amarr : Strategic Cruiser - Legion with Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector
* Amarr: Marauder - Paladin
* Gallente: Strategic Cruiser - Proteus with Proteus Defensive - Nanobot Injector
* Gallente: Battlecruiser - Myrmidon
* Gallente: Battlecruiser - Brutix
* Gallente: Field Command Ship - Astarte
* Gallente: Fleet Command Ship - Eos
* Gallente: Battleship - Hyperion
* Gallente: Marauder - Kronos

Myrmidon gets a 7.5% armour repair bonus, I believe the Brutix gets a similar bonus.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Looks to be mostly Gallente ships that get the armour repair bonus.

Battleship wise the Hyperion also gets the 7.5% bonus to armour repair

Edit once again Tau is on the ball

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

You forgot the Incursus.

Ships with armor bonuses (and cap bonuses) are often also great for active armor tanking, too. So... these are the ones I'm aware of active tanking working really well on:

  • Amarr: Assault Frigate - Vengeance
  • Amarr: Interceptor - Malediction(combine with high speed for great tank)
  • Amarr: Heavy Assault Cruiser - Sacrilege (combine with an afterburner to troll-tank)
  • Amarr: Battlecruiser - Prophecy (haters gonna hate on the Prophecy, but I use it for station ganks, and I've killed a Tengu with it before)

Nope, that's a frigate. OP asked for cruiser to battleship.

Thanks though! I didn't realize it had the bonus as it was recently changed.

Never thought of flying Amarr myself, lasers do have a certain attraction though.

The Sacrilege sounds like fun, troll tank is the best thing I've heard this week

Oh, I have trouble reading. It's a condition I have. Sorry!

Also look for ships with armor resistance bonuses - that's not an explicit armor repair bonus, but the higher your resists, the more effective every cycle of an armor repairer will be.

Adding to what Marc said: People talk about DPS, but what about Repair per second? (RPS?) When looking at an armor repair module, you really want to compare it's total amount repaired to it's cycle time to get a more realistic picture of your active tanking ability.

You also need to judge that against your ship's capacitor - an active armor tanking ship that caps out is in deep trouble.

EFT actually covers that in the Defense numbers: there's a Maximum Defense rating, showing how much damage can be absorbed in a burst with repairers running flat-out until your cap's empty, and a Sustained Defense rating, showing how much you can absorb if you occasionally power off repairers to recover some cap.

It's a tricky balance; active armor tankers will often use some cap rechargers in their midslots, or capacitor power relays in the lows (sacrificing shield buffer for better cap recharging), as well as Capacitor Control Circuit rigs. In PVP, expect to see cap boosters as well.

Exactly so. Resist bonuses will also increase your total effective hitpoints, as well, meaning that you'll last longer without using the repper (or when you run out of cap for the repper). They also make it more effective for others to rep you.

This is why resist bonuses are generally considered superior to raw rep bonuses.

I would like to point something out here. There has been a lot of good information here, and I noticed people linking to the evelopedia ship pages

Be careful, a lot of those info pages are WRONG. The best way to make 100% sure is to check the in-game info pages. The evelopedia pages don't get updated in real time and if there has been a ship balance, it will not always be reflected in the evelopedia.

example: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Hulk

They havn't updated since the mining barge fix. So just be careful using the evelopedia ship pages

FC, what do?
