Hello,

So far I am on a free account, but I just found out that if I choose continue playing I will have to pay more than other players simply because of where I live.

The monthly Pound Sterling and US dollar fees are about the same but the Euro fee is quite a bit higher. Is there a rational explantion for that?

Exchange rates. The Euro isn't performing very well (frankly, it was never going to).

The exchange rate changes for the Euro and the Pound Sterling are roughly the same compared to the US Dollar over the last five years, so that it not true.

As I recall there is more than 3 currencies in the world. If you look at the broad picture, the Euro is not performing very well these days. It's actually a great time for me to take a holiday over there.

In that case you are a little late. The Euro has gained significantly in value against both the USD and the GBP since it was introduced in January 2002.

But you are missing the point. All currencies fluctuate. The Euro does it. The Dollars does it. The Pound sterling does it. That is the way floating exchange rates work. If a currency lost a significant amount of value for an extended period of time then it would make sense to raise the price in that particular currency, but that is not the case. What I fail to understand is why comparatively the Euro fee is so much higher than the Dollar or Pound fees.

This should help also, it's a developers blog about the price differences.

Thanks for the link although it doesn't quite adress my question. I don't use dollars, euros or pound sterling. In order to play I have to change some money. Since I live in Europe I have to change to Euro which at 15 euro/month is quite a bit more expensive than the other two correncies.

Think about it thsi way. The monthly fees in euros and dollars are both 15. But the euro is worth more than the dollar.

Buy game codes from america, shattered crystal is the place i use. Then you get american prices.

That could be an option. I'll look into it. Thanks.

60 days cost USD 34.99 on their website. That is not too bad. I guess I should take advantage of the difference in puchasing power :-)

Hehe, don't worry man :) USD is gonna come crashing down sometime next few years anyway once they all tired of scrabbling for oil. All the while the rest of the world is moving away from the oil standard and refusing to even use dollars to pay for it. Just give it time Twisted

Get a proxxy and tell CCP u from the Uk :P

Then we just tap into that sweet crude under Alaska that can free us from imported oil and use that oil to bomb you back into line Bear

Thats the attitude that has your economy in tatters and your people camping in tent cities with no medical care while the ritch play spaceship games and crack jokes :)

Secondly, ever since its discovery that particular well has had its size stimates reduced steadily with every report. As i remember many of the caverns we used to think would be full of oil are actually full of natural gas. That alongside the fact it's under a reserve and the fact i live somewhere you guys will never invade makes me feel secure in my place :P

This currency thing can work for you also, it sure does for me. I buy GTC from authorised seller in US, pay by paypal and currency change from euro to $ works in my favor. Not bad considering how many accounts i run, most of the time. Yes, i could probably grind enough isk per month to play for free, but that would be too much like second job.
