I've recently started having connection problems. Almost constantly I'm getting "the socket was closed" error, and rarely when I can login its seconds until I get disconnected again.

This happens on my windows vista PC and my MacBook Pro with mountain lion. Both share the same connection so I'm guessing this is the issue.

I'm hoping there is a workaround for this because the game is unplayable at the moment.

Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: I should probably add; I get regular timeouts while on the Eve forums also.

same situation here - 4-6 "teh socket was closed" issues, on one PC, with two accounts.

Would like feedback also.

I gave up on EvE for a few months ago after the Goons went monkey again. I'm not bothered about extending rough stuff anymore than there already is round here. Fed up with 'monkeys' everywhere. Just want to play eve in high sec quietly, mining and industry and science ... like a scientist .... maybe one day they make a story line module for only those that haven't ever blown anyone up or aggro anything at all , so you get special shielding and v hard to target? Like reward for peace ........
and perhaps they will close those stupid loop holes that goon etc exploit ALL the time.

The 'socket closed' 'thing' is a pain as there is NO other game anywhere close to the brilliance of EvE.

But if you can't play it AT ALL ... well ........ Sad

I have constant double 'Socket closed' messages after about 10 minutes of connection with my 3 accounts.

I run Win 7
All updates and files good.
Have no steam account.
Tried leaving help chat open for activity.
Am using a ping plotter to see if there is any blip at the same time as disconnection.

This problem began just over a week ago ish. Was this about the time of a new patch ... perhaps.

I completely factory reset my machine to just try to get EvE back.
Spent money on an external drive to put my files on.
It took all yesterday and today just to get my system working ok again.

Started EvE and bang 'socket closed' again .........................................................................

this has happened to me before a long time ago, after a patch actually.
Maybe if you get a patch you have to totally disconnect the internet and restart it, so I've just switched off my modem by the mains and am going to try EvE again ......

It worked YIPHEE ... must e some sort of net prob , reset your modem and try again! :)
