I think I'd like updated versions of the old sounds. It may just be the quality of the recording but those old sounds do sound a bit low-fi now. Like they were a good piece of work at the time but done using cheap equipment.

The current jump sound is higher quality but every gate has the same sound. We just need a few more (re-)created to fill out the racial or even size variants.

Not that I'm complaining that a dev would respond to a thread about the sound in the game, but...

Seriously though, one would get the impression that CCP, as of late, would appear to care more about beautifying the game than actually making some worthwhile improvments.

I just think it would be nice to see some devs showing interests in discussions about a portions of the game that effects a large part of the community.

"Jumping through a gate" affects a large part of the community.

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

You ever though that maybe this particular thread a DEV could comment they liked an old sounds and not get grilled.

THe other threads you linked are asking the community how they would fix EVE not CCP.
Why would a DEV even comment in those threads ? (well they could say they like things the way they are)
If CCP is going to fix or change something they put out a DEV blog.

OR in can you haven't got it yet.
Your comments and others like you is why CCP don't post on the forums that much.
In other words you are part of the problem and if you tone it down just a little bit maybe they might post a little more.

I have to wholeheartedly object.

I am the only person like me, a benefit of being a unique snowflake. I would share this experience, but you're obviously to high strung to truelly appreciate it.


On a serious note,
I would honesty love a worthwhile, constructive, discussion with the developers on areas of gameplay that really do have an impact on a lorge portion of the community, and that many feel hasn't recieved much attention in some time now.

Even one initiated by a developer; through a dev blog.

The developer here obviously didn't get into a discussion in regard to a particular sound in the game. However, it's obvious someone was paying attention.

Sometimes, just knowing, can be as important as open dialogue.

You mean like if you post something in the Ideas and Features section it is the same as a circular file.
No comments no discussion nothing. I do agree with you there.

By the way just to put this back on track I liked the old sounds as well.

The idea died last time it was put in F&I. It's better here.

Since this is an old gripe from the community I had hoped that seeing the dev badge on this topic came with some sort of result.
Like we're working on it. it's fine. We fed our sound people to the hungry polar bears.

With the greatest respect to OP and the older players that remember the old gate sound, I have to say they remind me somewhat of cheesy c.1970's audio effects. Though I do like the idea of different jump sounds depending upon the faction or type of gate.Smile

I'd suspect its because if you say you liked an old stargate sound everyone is like Roll

Whereas when you venture your own personal opinion on nullsec, highsec and the balances of them everyone gets like Evil

Basically if I was a dev the only eve related opinions you'd get out of me is what colour i prefered my T2 ships painted (black FYI)

This isn't even a hard thing to fix. Hell, pretend it's part of the Retribution "expansion" and cram it in as a footnote. Just change it back.

Came into thread expecting a proposition to eat babies. Left disappointed.
