I love EVE but this game is sounding/looking like it will be some seriously tough competition. It's from the guy who made Wing Commander and Freelancer.

That game will be much less than what you are all expecting.

How can you seriously think something will compete with EVE?

Should have worded it better, I didn't mean it would kill EVE, I mean it would get me personally to stop playing to play Star Citizen instead.

Edit: Sorry, posted it in the wrong section lol.

Edit2: I didn't notice there was already a thread about this, please delete :)

Gonna be a while before that game is anywhere near complete...but if you're still playing IF I decide to leave to play that game instead yes...you can have my stuff :D

YAY, I might join you for a day or two. I got my golden tickets a while back. But I don't think it will be amazing. I think it will be like world of tanks, or league of legends, something you play when you are extremely trashed simply for teh lulz

This "eve killer' is all puffery at this time. It will more than likely end up like most presidential campaign promises, Talked about and built up to sound fantastic, but will end up being a pale shadow of what was originally talked about when finally brought to reality. I will reserve my judgement, and eve subscription until I see a finished product.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

from what i gathered from past experiences where people tend to think their mmo will die to a superior one come from people who aren't satisfied.

every time there's a new mmo out that competes with wow, people leave the game for a month and come back... i thought star citizen was single player anyways?

I'm sort of sad that the first topic I see about this game is, "this could kill eve: star citizen; maker of wing commander's dream edition."

Instead of: Witness this, please donate, make this happen for the love of all scifi and pc gaming.

Or something of such nature. Frankly, I was just discussing the want of a detailed sci fi simulation, single player with a multiplayer addition.....and then this comes up on my radar.

I'd love to see this become a reality, and I would think that we EVE players would like it as well. Nothing really stands up to EVE if someone really has gotten hooked on it. This game would just be an excellent addition to the scarce sci-fi simulation market.

I plan on donating,(they have a kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen ) once my paycheck comes in.
I want this to happen.

This. MMOs are rough in the beginning. I've donated to a few newer ones which I see potential in. You could make the difference in bringing out a beautiful game or letting what could have been slip into darkness.

Also, this game can't kill Eve because Eve is unique. If Star Citizen copied Eve it would be a fail wannabe, and if it was unique itself then there would still be a reason to play Eve because they would be very different games (and also because Eve's got like ten years hard over this game and it isn't even coming out yet).

Calling any game a "X Killer" is for the birds

Good grief those trailers are fuckin' boring .

whointhehell makes trailers like that these days?

Where's the interest? Where's the conflict? Where's the non-generic music? Who are those people? Why should I care about them? How much money did they pay someone to create them? Can they get the money back? Are the people who invest money supposed to be enthralled to hand over money to the developers if the trailers are THAT terrible?

Must have been created by ex-filmschool rejects with no talent whatsoever beyond having a handbook beside their mouse that reads like an 'idiots guide to trailers' or 'so, you got your first job directing a trailer?' OMF............G how can the people who created those trailers live with themselves? In the back field behind Chris Roberts' house, is there bodies burried of the people who made those trailers?

I find it incredulous, to know people like that exist in the world.

I am so shocked, I think I need to take a cleansing shower and watch Citizen Kane 5 times over so my eyes do not hate me too much and pop out of my eye sockets to find a new owner.

After that I need to email Chris Roberts and tell him to not bother making a new game if the trailers look like that - he might as well burn the money people are giving him. Suckers.

Actually I think you are a little mistaken there. That wasn't a game trailer format. That was more along the lines of an investment presentation. I think the blue/green screen that he stands in front of most of the presentation gives that away. It's common in business, being that or in front of a whiteboard or projector.

What ever happened to jump gate evolution and that one other space mmo that was supposed to kill eve.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.
