"Make things as simple as possible, but not simpler." -- Albert Einstein

Lowering learning curves is a good thing in all situations. EVE is no exception; hence the UI and NPE changes last patch.

My concern is that many of the suggestions here have implications farther reaching than simply helping new players. You don't want to fix one problem and there by create another. For one thing, corp member activity is valuable intel, be it in picking a war target or gauging an aggressor. For another thing, this could (purposely or accidentally) affect the cost of wars which is dependent on the number of members in a corp. Over time, patterns in fluctuation of membership could even be correlated to time periods (releases, school start/end, holidays, CCP specials, etc.).

Is this a good thing? Maybe. But. This is a byproduct of a change designed to help new players find a (subjectively) "good" corporation to join; not an intended outcome. This strengthens my fondness of optional, customized, automatic kick-rules with the time limit internally visible.

You shouldn't be able to see how many members I have period if I don't explicitly make that public.

All the points are good except for the troll

However

If we do not attract new players, the game will die

It is as simple as that

So i will ask some questions to you.

1. EvEWho would not be known to new players, especially if they knew nothing about eve nor did they know anyone in the game, so how would they find it?
2. New players as you say should just keep looking instead of "crying" about it, why would u not want new blood in eve online, why would u want people to quit? Because they weren't ask geeky as you and "researched" eve online before they joined a game, god forbid a player just likes the look and wants to play it.

o/ man.

1. (newbie-) help channel, those are made to ask bout what you don't know, everyone is free to apply to be a helper in those chats so you to (if accepted) can help em along.
2. If players have no NEED to do any research when joining a corp, they WON'T learn any of the tools you can use for it, they WON'T get any knowledge by themselves about that corp (or any other thing for that matter). So the first to tell someone X is a good corp the newbs need to stick with? No way. Help em along, point em to the tools, give em some questions they can ask in the first chat with a corp maby, dont dumb it down further.

About the easy-intel issue, i heard someone say: ,, Every change that will benefit new players, benefits old players even more."
I'll leave it with that quote, its clear enough.

My take on it
(you know me so no misunderstanding about the tone of voice here)
