Null-sec for individual corps?

While I haven't done a lot of null-sec operating (aside from a single scouting trip, actually), it seems to me that all null-sec is occupied by now, and that there simply isn't room for an individual mining corp anywhere. I may be wrong but all the good systems (good meaning access to ice and Arkonor) seem to be occupied by PVP-only corps/huge-scale alliances, for the sole purpose of preventing a small corp from ever making a living in null-sec. I know that the huge-scale alliances don't have people in all their systems at all times, but they still own all the good systems.

Is it really necessary to be in one of those huge-scale alliances that force all their people to do PVP, even if they don't want it, in order to do some mining in good null-sec systems?

yes, 0.0 RMT would be a lot less lucrative if they didn't own all the good space. what those "pvp alliances" actually do is rent out the good space to smaller alliances & corps. they add it all into their RMT pool. smaller alliances and corps comming in, taking space & holding it cuts into their bottom line.

And I'm pretty sure their primary reason for renting out space is to get ISK and then kill the miners that just want to mine some good ore, or is there actually an honorable 0.0-alliance somewhere?

No its not necessary - try NPC space. But you will get shot at by everybody.

The point of holding Null Sec is not to keep you out - its to make money. If you want to mine then join a rental alliance, pay your monthly rental and you can mine and rat as much as you want and never ever have to turn up for any alliance related PvP activities whatsoever. All you have to do is pay some ISK to the sov holder.

And FFS don't take a rental agreement from the first random dude in Goonwaffe who convo's you - he's going to take your ISK and keep then blow you up on the EC gate. Ask around other corps who have working agreements about who is worth renting from. Look through the recruitment forum and make a sensible choice.

You need to get over that attitude. Eve is a harsh place that doesn't suffer fools, but we are not all complete f*cks.

I never said anything about everyone being complete f*cks. I just don't trust that paying someone to rent their space is going to keep us safe. Then again, if we pay them, they have a stable income each month/week, and if they shoot us, we have no reason to keep paying, so I guess my initial statement wasn't that thought-out... Now we just need to find a 0.0-sovereignty alliance who is worth our ISK...

NOPE.

Yes, you'd be surprised with how much money you can make on top of making your rent payment. A corp of about 20 people can make a lot of money with ratting and DED sites alone. It takes months to set up, get all your upgrades. So it helps if you choose a stable place. Problem is, people like TEST, Goons, DRF are on a war path to try to take over null.. (their steam is getting low...) Anyways, best bet would be to do your own research on who to rent from.

Check the sov map and pick a region.

In the end though, try to join a corp that has the ability to gain it's own space through diplomacy and CTA's. Its hard work but then again, EVE is hard and if you want to make EVE easy, this is the way to do it.

There is always NPC space, areas are not quite so good but if you get blue to the local pvp outfit there say by offering cheap ships/mods etc you will be left alone.

no you have to pay those large pvp alliances RENT if you want to mine in their space

I really like the part where Sov holders rent constellations at "Botting Only" prices (TM).
& keep all the moons for themselves...

Great game mechanic.

Who said anything about anyone getting ganked? I certainly didn't say anything about that, because we didn't. In fact, most of our lost ships have been due to mistakes solely on our behalf, and we don't blame others for that. So if you thought I am whining about getting ganked, think again. Just look on EVE-kill.net if you don't believe me.

Nullsec belongs to people who can either fight for the space, or pay for it. If you aren't willing to do either, others will either force you out or outbid you.

To be fair, those huge-scale alliances didn't just start the game like that. Individual players had to work to build a huge-scale alliance. Then they had to work to take space for the alliance. Anyone that joins EVE is free to do this, it's just going to take a bit of dedication and work.
