Ok, here`s my thoughts - Jovians. Seriously, why we don`t see them in game?

- lvl 6 (or whatever) missions) which could be given only by pirate factions in 0.0 rarely (1 mission out of 100 storyline ones or something like that). And those missions should be hard as 10/10, Sanctums, LvL 5 missions and sleepers in WH Class 5 combined together in order to make it possible to run only for well organized medium to large sized fleets with possible cap support (or w/o it, what would make it even better). As for rewards it not necessary should be something new in game, or extraordinary. It might be usual salvage/T2 salvege or sleeper stuff just in large quantities. Or Jovian agents could spawn at random time in random place and give some interesting missions against usual factions.

Need to think about that more, but concept is like that.

Several thoughts-

1) Empire incursions into nullsec (actual Empire ships of various factions!) that decide to expand their empire, and when victorious that system becomes empire space for that empire... They especially want technetium moons :)

2) Disaster type event - supernova destroys all belts and stations in a system. I nominate Jita for the first one, followed closely by Dodixie, Rens, and Hek.

3) Unique alien megaship/contstruct/creature incursion. Think single giant ship like V'jer from the original star trek movie, or maybe just a giant mutant space goat that can eat stations (thanks to Douglas Adams for that one).

Inferno: almost as fun as chewing used medical syringes.

Have a portal open to a single system in Jove space.

Have Hilmar in a Jove ship - very hard - but killable - jove ship. Allow it to have weapons but ensure a CCP developer backstabs him and bugs the weapons so when he undocks they're all offline.

Allow the entire eve community to have a shot at shooting him.

Let eve community get their anger out in game.

Auction the corpse and give the proceeds to charity.

some of you's might not remember this but a few year ago ccp made the whole of eve nul sec with no conc etc for 1 night

they seeded all stations for 100isk cap ships the lot

devs/GM's whatever they call themselfs were all in caps and jove ships(crazy jove frigs with 99% resists with 7 torp launcher iirc) all over empire.

now after all the crap we've had recently im sure we would all like to shoot at cpp and them back at us.

that was one of the best nights ive ever had in eve

doint it again ccp, have you got the conkers for it?

Everything you see in game is a live event. CCP only needs to give us the world, the players are the content.

some mechanics which could make the game more challenging and reactive:

Let The Hunt Begin:
Random broadcasting of high bounty outlaw's locations on cc-tv

Carebears Strike Back:
Randomly opening wormholes from highsec to claimed nullsec, visible on overview

Gold Rush:
Some constellations might lower truesec-status for x hours by a significant amount, visible on map

Enviromental Effects:
Space-travelling phenomena affecting systems in it's path with wormhole-like combat effects. Travel-route visible on map.

Stargate Malfunction:
Very low chance of any stargate entering a defective state, thus leading to a random adjacent system x ly away for x jumps and x minutes

Guys, there is already a challenging "Live Event" taking place right now - the Goon incursions on highsec ice mining.

Apparently, while threads like this confirm demand for more content, players apparently would rather wait for CCP to program it for them and beg in the mean time, instead of just creating the content and challenge themselves. (I thought that was the point of the "sandbox"...)

Unfortunately, when actually presented with a challenge like the Goon invasion, most pilots have chosen to respond by whining and bitching for weeks, instead of hopping in some ships and taking them on, moving their mining ops into more challenging territory (low/null), or otherwise adapting to the situation as it unfolds.

I agree, more stuff to do would be great. But you don't have to wait for CCP to have content. Players create their own all the time, its just sad that its received with the attitude that "GOONS UR DESTROYING EVE" instead of people seeing the current campaign for what it is - an opportunity to engage a new threat, and try new things.

Just posting to say we're still following this thread and taking feedback into account. One of the beauties of events is that we can take advice on a forum and act on it quickly, we don't have to wait for the next patch to make improvements (unless of course the suggested improvements involve new features, etc).

So...keep giving feedback. It does impact how we run events, and we are uniquely positioned to act on it quickly. No "soon" business.

As for the idea of standalone mini-events, it's a good one and harks back to the early events that AURORA used to run, many of which went quite well. We'll probably take something like that on in the next round of events, so we can change things up yet again. Smaller stuff is good because you can shift focus to different factions and spread the story around a lot more. Right now though we have to stay focused on the much larger-scale events we're running (like Arek'jaalan - google it if you're interested, or one of those people who always seems to miss events, this one is running 24hrs a day). This second round of events requires a lot of love and attention to truly pull off.

Finally, to those people saying "players make the (best) content" I salute you. Know that we'll actually back you up on that statement too. We say it all the time at conventions, panels, etc. and that idea is actually a core principle behind the Arek'Jaalan live events. Rather than dishing out storyline tidbits from on high, we're inviting our fellow players to tell the story as well. Smile

I know we all were looking for something different then what CCP gave us in the last expansion.

I've been thinking about the game having mini events, similar to the Sansha incursions.
Maybe, not on that big a scale, but with more frequency and variety. These events wouldn't be regular and would always occur randomly.

Perhaps having an npc Angel fleet of 100 BS spawn in a randomn system in a high sec region once a month.

Or having a system's sun go supernova and spawn some in game material that could be mined.

Or having a comet crash into a planet and having tons of debris in a solar system like a giant asteriod field of ice/ore/ lvl 1pi materials.

Or have a 0.0 constellation spawn in a system an npc grouping of pos's, say 6-10 on an unoccupied moon, and the pos's have bounty and loot, perhaps faction tower bpc's.

These are rough ideas and have many flaws with them i know, but i'm looking for ideas like this. What do you guys think?

I believe we need more variety in eve. I didn't join this game to pay real money for fake clothes. I joined this game to fly in space.

Along with your opinion on this, plz post ur top 3 ideas relating to this that you think would make eve more exciting and interesting.

Thank you in advance for you constructive input.

+1000 props to you and some others ideas

More events make people get interested and people interested are happy players, happy players call for more [strike]targets[/strike] players. Lol

@ CCP Nav,

Pass this one along, STOP CLEARING the danged wreck fields! Lag be damned, leave that to the professionals.

At the end of last year, these events went on for much longer than anyone realizes as the scavengers (that would be us) fought over the scraps with hilarious results and many explosions (over an hour and a half in fact at one of the events). There is nothing more exciting than landing on grid next to a juicy player-wrecked T3 or T2, with scramming frigs all around you and the Carrier being way too close for comfort. The fights that break out in those things were just too funny and yeah, we get a kick out of folks shootin (and popping) our frigates. I think we lost 3 or 4 at the last one in Pator and the new ninja still made out like a bandit.

These are great events, but if you clear the wreck fields, you're locking out the salvagers, can flippers and other PVP opportunists who are already virtually locked out of Incursions.
It is kunts like TEARS that make great player-based gaming content. BTW, I love kunts.

is it possible to keep the arek'jaalan project going for a longer period of time? ie rather than having the whole thing run its course in, for example, 6 months, have a core storyline that take place over that time frame, but make it open ended so that us players can keep driving it long after the core is finished? that way in a years time we can still be having an effect in the same way that we are today, and new players will get a chance to be a part of it too.
