Agreed, sound is pretty lackluster. Turret sounds especially. Hybrids are especially awful. My step-dad makes deeper, more intimidating sounds in the bathroom at Thanksgiving.

I think it's hilarious hearing the Erebus and Moros making the same exact sound Hammerheads and Hobgoblins do when they fire.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Seems as if at least one of the Devs has either had the same idea, or they actually read this thread.

In the folowing link i found that they will actually bring better sound effects to lasers, e.c.t.

It says the ship engine sounds will be updated too? sounds interesting.

Also the salvaging Drones thing makes me curious.

Agree.

Also, using the actual ship models (twisted and bent out of shape) instead of some metal-girder wreckage would be nice - its about time that happened! I wanna see a Caracal with a broken neck ;D

The wreck structures IMO are pretty lackluster, and it would be cool to see some detailed wrecks at the subcapital level eventually.

But the only problem after this will be being able to tell whether or not a Minmatar ship is actually down or not if you're ignoring brackets and stuff for some reason.

The weapons really do sound uninspiring. Even the autocannons don't sound like autocannons, especially the 800mm repeating artillery that has a automatic burst fire animations, but only fires a single boom as the old animation.

Hello CCP,

I am wondering if there are any plans of upgrading the sound effects in the game specially the weapons.

I think the missile launchers are not that bad, but the lasers, turrets e.c.t. really sound like from an Amiga
commodore game from the 70's.

I thought since you've been working on Dust 514 you must have a brand new stock of weapon sounds, and i saw a video showing that you guys are also working on new animations for ship explosions.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a real "badaboom" going on if a ship explodes.

I mean i think all this kinds of sounds could be much more intense and loud. That would probably bring a whole new feeling to the game.

What do you think?
Greets.

How often when you are in combat do you zoom in so close as to be able to hear the sounds well? Because frankly that's the only way to hear them well - you must zoom in. Most of the pilots, mission runners and those that participate in large fleet fights, zoom out so far out that sounds virtually disappear.

To be fair there shouldn't be any sound at all..

So any sound must be artificially created by the pod.. And it just happens to have really really oldschool soundbites!

jumping freighters scare the **** out of me when in jita! but i do agree with OP, sound is pretty, well, lackluster, and i also do want new wrecks. the standard, one model stupid twisted mass of bars and wires that may be 10 times smaller than the destroyed ship gotta go. i want wrecks that are slightly recognizable, have different parts of the hull floating around near eachother, much like the historic sites in amarr space with apoc pieces and the naglfars snapped in half. I WANT TO MAKE DAT HAPPEN!
