Shields or Armor active tank.

I'm curious what people think is better, rules are simple.

Your choice: armor or shield

and then your reason.

Depends on the ship your flying. You wont get a simple answer for your simple question.

Armor
Passive all around resists make you not use that much cap. That way you can use your armor repairer with ease.
Also its good to know when you are taking damage and have time to react to turn on your armor tank. Shield acts like a buffer tank that way, becoming more than being completely useless. In shield tanks, when your shield is down, your armor doesn't matter at all, and is more useless than shields in active armor tank.

Shields:

Ship is faster/more manoeuverable, and frees up low slots for gank/tracking and/or speed mods.

As well, shield-tanking just has that certain elan that armour-tanking sadly lacks. (I've thought so since the day I first read the tutorials about both types of tanking, what feels like half a lifetime ago :))

Armor.

Damage going through the shield first gives me (usually) enough time to ponderously ponder how to react (panic, flee, whatever) to the situation.
