Literally fleshing out the New Eden backstories!

(I checked the 'Commonly asked Questions' FAQ first, so be kind if this has been raised before but is hidden away somewhere!)

The EVE universe has a very well developed backstory - politicians, Empresses, the works. A good number of us like the RP aspects of the game but the backstories are just a framework on which we hang our activities but can't be too much more to the average player (even the RP'er) as they presently are.

A suggestion: Let's take those movers and shakers of New Eden off the computer screen and set them loose in New Eden! By this, I mean that CCP unleashes trusted individuals whose role in the game is to be a living major character equipped with the abilities and resources of that character (and all that implies) and is tasked to act, always, as that character would within the New Eden universe.

Imagine - you annoy the Empress, she starts screaming "Who will rid me of this troublesome infidel?" and next thing you know, you and your allies might have to cope with the 24th (for example) coming after you at her behest.

Honk off the Gallente faction and you may find things getting very hot, very fast, if the rulers decide that a few billion bounty and lots of medals and ships are to be given to the people that pod you and your comrades.

Consider the task of making representation and asking the high and mighty amongst the Minmatar for backing and help if a major slaveholder decides to come after you!

We have our own well-known players amongst us, just think how much more potential there could be if some of the people that are our dreams (or nightmares) could become real and start affecting our days as well! It'd be hard to do, but pulling it off'd make the game even more fun than it already is.

So for example we get Sansha missions which is to 'annoy the Empress', We go to Amarr and annoy Jamyl I? We earn lots of ISK and earn enough LP points to get a Nightmare P. I'm really getting off the forum of this now but what is the main objective of this suggestion?

It does a number of things -

It makes real the background of the EVE Universe

It brings into play powerful monolithic entites that do not have the same ends or interests as player corps and alliances - this can lead to all kinds of wondefully tasty conflicts and events that we just don't have in the game right now

It creates the possibility for all kinds of diplomatic shennanigans between players/corporations/alliances and entire Empires - again, something that doesn't exist right now

It can make possible, or absolutely impossible, the aim of "Winning EVE" should an entity like BoB ever arise again

The Law of Unintended Consequences can become even more active than it is right now - it's no longer a simple case of "Can I gank this guy and get out alive?" - now it's "Is this guy a favorite of, or doing something for, {faction name here}?"

Law enforcement in Empire space gains new dimensions

Inter Empire warfare can now become a very real thing - suppose the Gallente governent were to hire pirate and mercenary corps to conduct economic disruption assaults against Caldari space? What could that lead to? Say Jamyl decides that the Minmatar need to be re-enslaved?

This could be like the days of the Great War only better still...

It adds that missing dimension of Empire politics and power that the EVE universe should have - it makes what is thus far only documented into something real, powerful and able to be your best friend or your worst nightmare - it's up to you
