It's a meaningless, feel-good, circle jerk award these days anyway. A few years back, some douchebag got one for doing nothing at all. I think his name was Barry Soetoro or something.

The EU? Force for peace?

Good to see it put a stop to German domination of Europe. . .

I think I would be happier with the secret ingredient instead of the finished product.

Oh please, give the committee some credit. They *had* to give it to the EU as "recognition for a unique project that works for the benefit of its citizens and also for the world,” before the EU breaks up.

no war in the past 60 years? Shocked

Didn't we have genocides and crimes against humanity in the ex-yugoslavia? a nation splitting in fragments because of religious extremism and some sort of exagerated proudness (call it racial intolerance if you don't mind)? Wasn't it in the mid 90's? Didn't we (eu+us but mostly eu) fixed it bombing them all for years?

Oh well prolly a genocide once in a while is not such a big shame. At least I hope with all those money now we can fix our debts Lol

Big smile Pointless and meaningless (except to those who still remain naive). It's more a mainstream PR job (to put EU in the limelight with a a positive image) than anything truly worthwhile.
With EU's current troubles, its to be expected.

What? The Euro?

As a Swede, I am just as baffled as everyone else and the Nobel Peace Price used to mean something, now it is mostly a sham.

I'd kill for a nobel peace prize.
