PLEX going up because CCP conjures ISK, buys PLEX, then trashes them.

Ooookay, perhaps you can demonstrate how....

A) CCP is incapable of doing this?
B) one could prove it without becoming a CCP employee, or hacking (and getting banned)?
C) this does not generate $$$ for CCP. (through reducing server loads by tearing up PLEX, and encouraging more purchases?
D) how CCP isn't motivated by $$$?

You've just restated exactly what I said. You've asserted that CCP could do this (no one has denied this) but you've not asserted a shred of proof that they actually have done this. Show us the market analysis. Finger the alts being used. Give us the evidence.

I would also like to remind you that unsupported rumours are now not allowed on this forum.

My answer can be summarized in this handy clip:

But to paraphrase; this is false. And rumor mongering. Technically that is not allowed but I feel that locking or removing the thread would not have the desired effect.

When CCP says something like that, I get reminded of this.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I have long suspected this could be the case on a small scale, but anyone who tries to link this to the recent price hike is just being silly. Its purely a supply / demand issue, if anything CCP would stop trashing plex at the moment (if they were in the first place).

As there is no way to prove it either way this discussion is purely academic.

Plex prices are stupid and plex itself should never have been introduced into the game

Can I have your stuff?

A war that would’ve involved 20,000 players, 75% of nullsec space, and hundreds of supercapitals was halted not by diplomacy, but by a game mechanic so dreadful that those who have experienced it previously have no desire to do so again. - Fix POS & SOV

So you complain about the price of something that never should have been in the game and has absolutely no value to you?....

So a Plex costs more real life money, when the ISK price goes up? It is in CCPs interest to make people quit the game so they drive up the prices?

Your logic really is amazing.

If the PLEX bubble that keeps growing bursts, the cost of PLEX in-game would drop dramatically while the real currency price would stay the same. For CCP to manage burst and keep players grinding for them, they would have to actually lower the real cost of the PLEX. If PLEX actually drops to below 300mill, you are looking at the point players will decide buying PLEX to sell on the in-game market wouldn't be worth it. This would be bad for both the players and CCP.

This wouldn't permanent though, because prices would rise again due to PLEX being more rare, leading to more people buying it again. Thus the bubble would grow again which would lead to another Inflation in the in-game market. It is a cycle that is going to continue as long as there is Digital PLEX, unless CCP decides to get rid of PLEX all together or In-Game prices become permanent.

Higher Costing PLEX In-Game = More Money for CCP and Sellers, More Grinding For Buyers, and less characters in-game
Lower Costing PLEX In-Game = Less Money for CCP and Sellers, Less Grinding For Buyers, and more characters in-game

Ah this thread is a perfect example of the amusing nonsense in general discussion that keeps me coming back for more laughs. I haven't been able to find another source of intellectual debate of this level since GW Bush was the president in the states.Lol

Actually by putting a massive advert on the log in screen saying:

Quote:
OMFG, have u seen the PLEX prices??!? They are massive! I bet they wont stay that way for long maybe!

What they essentially doing is going

"Psst, hey. you know, if you spent £20 now instead of making 1 billion isk you could have 1.2billion isk......"

And

"Psst, you got any plexes hanging around? Well theres this bubble that may burst, if you sold all your PLEX now, waited for the price to crash and then re bought them, you'd make millions."

Both of these things actualy drive down the price of PLEXs. I actually thought it was rather clever.

Someone is butthurt that he can't do what he stated he dislike - playing for free.

Yes, I know that my post is totally worthless and brings nothing to the table, but what have you expected? Your claim is pretty much impossible to both prove or refute, so what's the point really?

If you really want my opinion on this matter... Smart people tend not to poison the cow they milk for 9 years already (and inflating the economy will bring the need to fix it later - a massive work tbh). You may argue that "eve is dying" and thus CCP want to cash out while they can, but I wouldn't call that possibility given that CCP invested a great deal into DUST and aren't exactly willing to make EVE go down as said DUST is expected to work with it (arguable, but for the most part I don't see DUST successful without EVE). Meanwhile DUST doesn't look like decoy, IMO it's too expencive to be one.

Proof, do not make claims without proof, show us your link to prove people are quitting? If you mean plexers, meh weho cares? they are not paying to play. Now show us your proof that real paying customers are quitting, you must be on the inside to have this information. Provide the link CCP gave of their customer numbers. If you do not have this proof, you have proven you are a liar and should always be ignored. Big smile

I will not even comment on ignorance of the someone wearing tinfoil and claiming CCP is causing this, there is ample proof the palyers control the prices. I do know kaiser must love all the tinfoil these people use.

Dear Insane People,

If the price rises too high, some people stop playing and might not come back. CCP's not that stupid.

Also CCP says they'll justify any use of the tools they have to manipulate the PLEX market to the CSM, who will act as a watchdog in the interest of the playerbase.

Love, Benny. xoxoxo

But if prices rise just enough, they maximize profit from people who are willing to trade dollars/euros for PLEX (because they now get more ISK per dollar/euro than ever), without forcing people to quit. The secret is in finding that balance.
