Offline POS still has shields?

So I was shooting at an offline but otherwise anchored POS the other day, expecting to see it hit armor, but instead it seemed to be still going through shields. Is this correct? I kind of just assumed that shields only worked if there was power.

Kind of a PITA.

Yes. Offline only means the forcefield is offline, the POS still has its base shields.

Due to extreme boredom and my ardent refusal to mission/mine I too decided to attack a POS tower for fun, as I never touch anything amarrian, all I could bring to the party was a lonely rainbow laser coercer.

I sat and watched 2 eps of MST3k before boredom kicked in and I warped off to lose my amarrian ship in amamake
(which to my surprise was vacant)

Tl;dr
POS BASH = Boring solo, bring drinks and friends
Think I got .2% shield out of the medium tower

Dont mind me,  just touching your stuff.

My corp decided to go blow up an offline large POS because it had bitchin' labs on it (4 Hyasoda labs).

Took us 5 1/2 hours to blow that goddamn thing up, but to be fair, only 2 of us were beating on it for about 3 hours.

pssh, just get a 250-man alphafleet on it, done in no time

Took out an abandoned small tower in a C2.

Started with my HML Drake. Shot at the tower a while over a couple of days, before I finally gave up and recruited corp members.

With 2 HML Drakes, a torp Raven, and an cap stable tachy Apoc with no tank, it took about two hours I think. The Apoc did most of the damage.
