Pirate Retribution fitting

I'm a new player thinking about trying piracy out. I'm a not able to pilot the Retribution hull just yet but would like to start figuring out its fittings. Please be mindful I am a nub and haven't PvP'd a day in my life, yet. Will be going out in a Punisher this week to test waters but looking forward to retribution as a goal. Anyway here is my fit:

[HIGH]
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Small Nosferatu II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
[MED]
Warp Scrambler II
Gistii A-Type 1MN Microwarpdrive
[LOW]
Heat Sink II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Small Armor Repair II
Damage Control II
[AMMO]
Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Scorch S
Conflagration S

Again this is just a goal of mine, I don't want to hop into a cruiser or some large hull as I don't think I'll be ready for that. I will be working my way up to T1 cruisers in a few months when my SP allows me to fly one correctly and efficiently. Thanks for your time and I appreciate your feedback.

AFs are a good place to start.

Cheap to replace, and yet quite lethal.

My only suggestion for your fit would be an AB over an MWD. And that's debatable. Only reason being, you're also using a Scram, which means you'll be in their Scram range. And their Scram will shut down your MWD, leaving you slowboating around while they run circles with an AB.

Ah yes I thought about an AB, but was hesitant to not use the reduction in MicroWarpdrive signature radius role bonus. I'll look further into this, thanks for feedback!

This is a fitting i used a lot in the past

[Retribution, Solaris III]

4x Dual Light Pulse Laser II (Scorch S)
Small Nosferatu II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II

Small Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Heat Sink II
2x Adaptive Nano Plating II

Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Small Anti-Thermic Pump I

It's meant for range. So orbit @ 15km (scorch optimal). But like Marcus Gideon already said. If your enemy can get to close and he puts a scram on you. You're a brick.
That why i like the next fitting so much and it's my new standard

[Retribution, Solaris II]

4x Dual Light Pulse Laser II (Conflagration S)

10MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II

Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Energized Thermic Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

2x Small Auxiliary Thrusters I

It's AB power. So get up close scrams doesn't hurt you. It got the same dps (conflag <=> scorch) and same speed as the MWD fitting. only d

Open second toon and give it 3 weeks training in trade and industry to keep your pirate supplied :)

Don't use T2 ships for now. First of all they're quite a bit more expensive to lose due to how insurance works, it's cheaper to lose a cruiser than it is to lose a faction/T2 frigate. Secondly, if you're fairly new to it all those funky ships won't help you, they won't keep you from dying and they won't get you kills. Instead they'll just make for more depressing lossmails. T2/faction ships can make good pilots better, but they don't make bad/inexperienced pilots good.

Keep it cheap, keep it cheerful. Expect to die a lot regardless of what you're flying so you might as well choose to fly cheap, learn game mechanics, read guides, ask a ton of questions (while questioning answers). Start off with a Punisher or Executioner, they're great ships, perhaps move on to the Arbitrator or (after the changes) the Omen but honestly; there's nothing wrong with staying small&cheap for a while till you get the hang of things.

Pirating is about locking down people who don't want to fight - so you have to be as adaptablea s possible.

This means the following is a necessity:

20KM+ Disruptor
Microwarp.

Beyond that i would recommend getting good damage, as cutting ships down quickly is essential when you are in a belt killing people. Other pirates will pirate YOU if they get half a chance.

If you're interested in piracy and going to be flying punishers, I'd definitely check out this blog:

Some real inspiration for a would be pirate and a great read too.

I've been flying punishers for a good while now, and the Retribution is really a nice little upgrade. That said, I always use a 200mm plate to provide a decent buffer, as well as a small rep to heal up after fights or live through a close battle. My lows for a retri would be as follows:

Small armor repper
DCU
Adaptive Nano membrane (EANM if it fits)
Heat Sink
200mm Rolled Tungsten Plate (consider T2 if it will fit)

The only problem with an AB fit, is that with the plate and any armor rigs you choose to use, you get pretty damn slow for a frigate. It's manageable if you're only going after bigger ships, but frigates will run circles around you. Luckily, you can drive off kiters with Scorch, and I usually fit a tracking rig to help deal with brawlers. Try fitting a punisher with an AB and one with an MWD and see what's more your style. Punisher actually makes a decent kiter if you fit for speed, btw.
