Hello world,i only have 2 accounts, both with regular mining barge skills, I need some help what would be more effective in the future, thinking about making 1 orca trained character and one hulk trained character, but would two mackinaw characters make more isk then 1 orca and 1 hulk or mack.. it seems like it would be cheaper and faster to have two macks, combined its more ore . has anyone tried this before seeing what works the best. thank you sorry if the gammar is bad or spelling

as an experiment, I made one of my industrial alts capable of flying mack's skiffs and Hulks.

My result cale to something like 1.5B isk revenue with current market mineral prices, per month with 8 hours passive mining in a Mack, Pilot with no boosts and the minimal skills, T1 miner and all.

every 20 min I just locked new rocks and every hour or so unloaded cargo.

Almost the same results came with the skiff but with the added bonus that absolutely nothing was going to happen to my ship.

There is nothing complicated, I insist your first mining barge be a skiff, then save up for the Mack, if anything ever does happen you will know you can always jump in the skiff and completely ignore acts of aggression.

the rule of thumb is, 3 miners make a booster worth it.

2 miners and a booster about breaks even with 3 miners.

Two macks will outmine a orca+hulk. You will only start to see an increase in yield when you have 3 or more toons mining at the same time with orca boosts.

However, having an orca there will mean less trips to the station and your mack can stay in belt for a lot longer while the orca occasionally drops off the ore.

Two accounts with two mining pilots flying mining vessels will probably result in more yield. But if you have an Orca and a Hulk running instead it provides ease of use, increased tanking ability, and other benefits. Both are viable methods. Smile

An Orca also affords you a little gank protection if you fit it with one or two large shield transporters. It can act as a NPC spawn tank having a lot more EHP then a Mack. An Orca can also still put out a set of mining drones as well.

Greetings!

In your situation, use two mining barges as they have suggested above. Once you get a bit more money, buy an orca and have it parked in station. Fill up a bunch of cans, then send one miner back to grab the orca and move all the cans at once.

Rinse + repeat.

If you get a third character, park them in a boosting Orca and keep two permanent miners. The output is similar to 3 miners, but the biggest benefit is being able to quickly and consistently move ore (especially if you need to GTFO of the belt quickly).

Two toons generating revenue is better than one generating revenue and the second wasting air. 2x Macks, one POS in system with a small assembly array anchored (more storage than Corp Hangar) to minimize dock/undock time. Best solution to your two-accounts-only problem.
