Let us not forget the whines of people who bought a 'Netbook' last year and complained Shader Model 2 is no longer supported.

EVE needs to improve the graphics and at some time they will have to move on to DX10 or DX11 or whatever comes later, but some people here are very hostile to changes.

....as if 10,058 Goon voices cried out and were suddenly silenced.

…and they probably will when it provides any kind of advantage, and when the DX9 part of the population reaches, oh, 2-3% or so (at least that seems to have been the cut-off for dumping SM2).

It has some 40 percentage points to go, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one for a while. And even then, as mentioned, it needs to provide some kind of advantage, which at the present is debatable.

Modern depth of field and motion blur are copouts utilized to hide the shortcuts(read low quality textures, low poly counts, etc) necessary to keep consoles running at 30 or 60fps. An exception would be a fog of war type effect where you are only focused on what you are targeting, but EVE doesn't really work like that in the first place, so it's not something I would expect.

I Wouldnt mind non blocky shadows, new backgrounds, the new promised effects and maybe tesselation on all models.

But aside from the shadows and backgrounds EVE is very good looking allready.

the graphics in eve are fine as they are except for poses.... they really need improvement particularly the gallente & amarr ones which still bug out from time to time
