It's about trolls trolling people who troll them, I don't see how it ISN'T relevant.

Just to clear up your miscue:

It's about a troller being superior when those he trolled attempt to troll him back.

Which, if you assume this thread is a troll (hint: it's not), but if it were, you just did.

Thank you for your kind words.

In another thread about convo bombing it was reiterated that we aren't allowed to do anything that induces inordinate lag on players' clients. We were reminded that it's a violation of the EULA to jet cans in excess around jump gates because it induces lag. This is all true and good.

I ask you, have you warped to an ice belt lately? They are literally teeming with these (now obsolete!) GSCs. Strangely, orcas and haulers are always present, taking ore from jetcans. Rare is the occasion a hauler approaches and accesses a GSC.

Yet there they are. What are they there for? For storage? Unlikely, given their obsolescence?

That many cans around a gate would get some investigation. That many cans around a gate could be said to lag clients.

But we ignore it and let ice miners have smartbomb blockers that serve no other conceivable purpose anymore besides:

1) lag

2) griefing gankers

Players in Eve should not be able to exploit old and outdated game mechanics to achieve invulnerability to an entire class of weapon, especially one with the restrictions already observed by the smartbomb.

This is clearly an exploit, and should be treated as such. Why isn't it?

Ironically.... 6 months ago... this would have been labeled as a carebear whine thread if say... he were to notice hundreds of drones spammed around a gate where a gang is conveniently located....

Any less relevant?

So based on the comparison you've made you seem to agree that miners are using an exploit to prevent gankers from playing their game.

Thank you for your support. In a mirror the reflection is only reversed on the vertical axis, not the horizontal one. Blink

I'm sure it's part of the plan to make miners safer. Selectively enforcing the don't-spam-things-rule.

After all, unlike being untanked idiots, it didn't make ganking profitable, so it's fine right? Cool

I remember back in 2008-ish when you went to an asteroid belt in anything 0.7 or lower, they belts would be covered in GSC's. I had my own series of GSC's, usually 3-5 per belt spread out over several neighboring systems. Would go down the line and fill them up, then go back down the line and haul them... back then, no one really complained that there were 100 cans anchored in 1 belt

FC, what do?

That's because back then they served an actual purpose relative to how much ore you could reasonably carry.

Their only real function on the mining field today is to prevent smartbomb activation.

That's broken.

I went to Kino and checked out the GSC at every belt. In only one ice belt did I find a large number of GSC's - each end ICE roid had a "cloud" of GSC's achored around them. Perfect setup for low skill corp mining operations. OP should petition - so CCP can laugh directly in his face.

Only anomalous anchoring I found were 4 small SC's with a lame protection scam claiming to be run by James 315

Perhaps OP is James 315 alt?

Tell me again how you mine ice with low skills please. Roll

Also, OP never claimed these were in ore belts, just ice belts. And OP also claims they are utterly useless now with the recent changes. They only serve as a smartbomb shield.

If they're there for more than 30 days someone is actively using/checking them. No problem here.

Other than these two problems, we agree: They have no business blocking smartbombs and they aren't being used for storage anymore while anchored in space.

They continue to be useful in the cargo hold of an Industrial ship.

Griefing suicide gankers is perfectly fine. Put forth some effort into bumping the target away from the GSCs. Funny how the suicide gankers are always sperging at people who haul expensive stuff and autopilot for being lazy and they got what they deserve? We if gankers are to lazy to bump the target away from the cans so they can just warp in and spam smartbombs with little ISK risk and effort, then they got what they deserved; no kill mails.

So you think that deployable, anchorable storage modules should disable an entire class of weapon system?

Do you have any real justification for that?

[edit]

No really, that's great. Let's come out with new storage modules to disable each of the weapon systems. Roll

Also, you know perfectly well the reason to use smartbombs is multiple targets. Huddling behind a totally illogical and ancillary smartbomb shield shouldn't be a rewarded strategy in Eve Online.

Get out of high sec or use another weapon system that cans don't interfere with. You can still suicide gank your heart out.

Get out of high sec.

You can't activate smartbombs in proximity to GSCs in low-sec or null-sec either. Sorry, I checked. P

Anyhow, smartbombs are functioning perfectly.

Except near outdated, ancillary storage containers which, inexplicably, block their use.

Jet cans don't stop them from detonating. Those are storage containers with next to no HP whose contents are at great risk if the can is destroyed.

Why, then, would storage containers with tons of EHP prevent their activation?
