Anomalies: Solo or small group?

So I was wondering if there are any sites out there that have done the math to figure out what size group is optimal for running Anomalies. My reasoning is that if you go solo, you have to do it in something with a decent tank, and that can deal with most ship types and local disruption types. I figure that if you specialize with a gang of 3-4 others, you can probably clear the sites more quickly. So in summary I would think that 1 group of 4 can get more done in an hour than 4 groups of 1.

there are lots of factors to consider here ..
the most important is : where are you running the anomalies ?

I've never found anomalies to be that profitable in the grand scheme of things. You'd get a lot more from finding a rated or unrated signature site.

That assumes you live in a place that is developed enough and not farmed enough to have those relatively available. At the level I'm at right now I'm more looking at dens and hubs for income (if anything). I can't really tank much else.

This is coming from a highsec mainly-carebear guy, so take it for what it's worth.

I used to live out in null and did a bit of anom-running out there, so I'm going from memory, but I recall that solo anom running wasn't really efficient enough. I'd run with one other corpie (or a combat alt if I couldn't find anyone), or even two if it was a tough site. Even when splitting the loot 2 or 3 ways, it was still better than running solo because you could clear sites a lot faster. We could go with a more flexible fitting approach: pure DPS on one ship, tank/DPS on another, and maybe a logi to keep us repped if the incoming DPS was heavy. Without having to worry about a "do it all" fit, we could design our loadouts to get through plexes and anoms with maximum efficiency.

One variant we'd play is to see how low-level a ship we could get to run high level DED sites. Or how bad of a fit we could load and still survive. I lost a lot of ships that way, but it was hilarious and a lot of fun. (I remember one site where we tried to run with guns only -- no mids or lows at all. It didn't go well.)

If\when you find them. Forlorn's and the like can be very profitable if you in an upgraded system that has them constantly spawning. For solo use a carrier if it is your corp/alliance system., otherwise a mach sounds pretty good.
