Cloaky AFK solution

Remove people from local when they have been idling for more than maybe 30 minutes. Do not remove their ship from scan if they are in space.

Let's see what this would do

1) Solve the problem of AFK cloaking. Great
2) Actually make local a goddamn intel tool since anyone that shows up in it has been active within the last 30 minutes. Not great.

I think the sole benefit of this idea is outweighed by its downsides.

Make it after 30min regardless of activity, and you've got me on board (have to make it harder for the atk cloakers as well). Add the ability to detect what ships are piloted through d-scan, even better. Remove stargates and replace them with a shifting... waitaminute.

There is no problem with afk cloakers. They're afk after all.

Been there, proposed that.

Besides local is getting removed so.. no.

This will just provoke macro methods to keep your ship moving, warping between bookmarks, decloak for a sec and cloak again and so on to keep your char in operation. OK, you can't run this for 23.5/7 otherwise it's a proof that the ship is remote controlled by a macro. Therefore the idea is not that bad at the first glance. But a cloaker shouldn't be on scan when beeing idle. This makes no sense.

On the second view the idea is bad because it will not solve the general issue that you can't rat in your home system as long as the cloaker is in space and visible in local. The hostile cloakers will just cloak at a belt, stay idle, will be removed from local and what will this tell us? That you can do your PvE business without a risk as long as noone is in local?

Finally your idea will just work when the ships would be on scan when beeing idle and removed from local. But this would take the cloak technology ad absurdum.

you enter a system: nice, no one in local.... some ships on d-scan, distance unknown. Some towers too. Just few jumps last hour.

Nice time to jump my JF. Cyno up. JF jumps....

OOOPS..... WTFOMG!!! Why the hell????

One more stupid unnecessary JF loss you can't prevent.

TLDR: i'm happy i don't do logistics

Do you realize this just aids AFK cloaking and does nothing to solve it?

great

and after this we can anchor a - Cloaking system jammer - that prevents cloaking in the system

Yes, but it also solves the problem of people being afraid of hositles doing nothing in their system.

Obligatory Ing Solution:

1. When a vessel cloaks, it is removed from local. It's cloaked, you're not supposed to see it there.

2. When a vessel cloaks, it loses access to local as well. If you truly want to be invisible, be invisible. Intel would need to be actively gathered through use of probes, dscan or simply flying your lazy arse around and seeing what's there.

3. When a vessel uncloaks, there's a delay in being able to fire off a cyno, say 15 to 30 seconds. This prevents abuse of the true invisibility with hot drops.

*Possible exception to the time delay for the cyno: Black Ops ships may be afforded no time delay.

There you go... the mythical "afk cloaking" issue is a thing of the past, cloaks aren't broken and, as a result, wormholes aren't nerfed due to changes in the cloaking mechanics, null remains inherently dangerous yet balance is introduced with regards to hot dropping.

Everyone wins except the bots.

Good idea for as long as local exists.
