Caldari and Gallente look fine to me.
Amarr looks too much like the Coercer, but I still like the overall design. Maybe be creative about the upper parts.
Minmatar is just ugly.

I somehow missed info about this: are these new destroyers going to replace the previous models, or are these a new tier like the Tier 3 BCs?

I like the looks of the Caldari/Gallente ones. the Amarr one is unimaginitive and closely resebles the Coercer. The minmatar one looks unfinished, but clearly says WIP.

Am I the only one that likes the minmatar design?

+10 for the minmatar design!!

OK, I think the design team has lost its way here. I many regards, these new boats do not reflect their race's traditional design philosophies nor new trends exhibited in the tier 3 battlecruisers.

Caldari: Overall, this look appealing. But I see curves. CURVES? How is a Caldari shipyard supposed to make curves? Why would they? Make it a mini-Naga with engines on smallon pontoons, for the sake of manoeuvrability.

Gallente: The team hit closer to the mark here, although it looks suspiciously like an aircraft... and the pods are ridiculous. Also, every drone-oriented ship should have some sort of maw for drone egress, as with some of the Amarr ships and all of the carriers. Stylistically, at least it takes come cure form the Talos and Thorax.

Amarr: WTF? As others have said, this looks like a coercer or purifier. As far as design, a distinct Amarr element has been crescents (or partial crescents). Like the Oracle, executioner, and slicer. Perhaps make this a trilaterally-symmetric design with 3 slicer/executioner style crescents around an axis of some sort...

Minmatar: Some of the bones of this one are good... the unterseebooten look is kinda cool. but these little wings on the leading edge? No, just no... and I really don't know what to propose.

The problem with slavery is that only half of the manacles are visible. The Holder, supposed master, is equally bound by the gilded chains of privilege and wealth.

Gallente Destroyer: Looks great, unique, sleek, interesting. Very gallente (however the Balls are just dumb, ditch those...)

Caldari Destroyer: Again it looks great. It has a very militaristic feel and most certainly looks like a missile spewing death machine.

Amarrian Destroyer: Errr, looks far too similar to the coercer. It's obvious that this model is rushed to meet a deadline. Please rework/scrap and produce something a bit more "jaw dropping"

Matari Destroyer: This thing ******* sucks... It's probably the worst "new" model I've seen from ccp in years. Delete the whole thing from your data folders and start over. Deadline or not, this is 100% not acceptable.

Salvage Drone: Looks like a salvage drone, well done...

Ore Frigate: Looks great. Ship obviously has an ore feel to it and the overall quality of the concept looks high. Well done.

Overall they are pretty good barring the blasphemy that is the matari POS. The Amarrian one just looks like a big shortcut to me however It's not "disgusting" so it's manageable.

The Gallente ship looks terrible as usual. What happened to Gallente ships looking like they've been grown rather than manufactured in a Caldari factory and painted blue-green?

Looking at the Minmatar Destroyer, and its MWD bonus, it is clearly meant to be rammed up the tailpipe on an Armageddon. Twisted

The Gallente one reminded me of the Hyperion...they all look like they've been styled after the Tier 3 BS.

To toss my opinion into the melting pot

Amarr
The Amarr ship is nice looking even if it does resemble the Coercer more than a little. It gives the impression of "We took a good thing and made it better." approach to military design.

Caldari
I love the way this one looks. I'm a huge fan of the submarine style sculpting on the model. I'll be buying one of these just to spin it around when I'm bored.

Gallente
This should have been the gas mining ship, tbh. The huge balls under it would have perfect models for "storage tanks". That aside, it's not terrible looking - just not what I picture when I hear Gallente destroyer. It would have been nice to look at something that borrowed on the WWII bomber-esque look of the Catalyst,

Minmatar
I cannot lie, this model needs some work, but it's not terrible to look at. It just doesn't feel complete. Like there's something missing. I don't find it hideous - but then I fly typhoons occasionally. Lol

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Scrap the Amarr one and rework, please. If I want to fly something that looks like the Coercer I'd fly the Coercer.

The Minmatar destroyer may have the "WIP" watermark on it but, have you all noticed that on the Retribution webpage that the two featured ships (Caldari and Matari destroyers) are the ones that aren't greyed out silhouettes? The Gallente and Amarrian ones are just greyed out silhouettes which said to me that those were the unfinished designs, not the Minmatar and Caldari. I felt that those two were pretty darn close to finalized or they wouldn't have been so prominently featured.

I think people at CCP have been reading these forums and gotten the message that the Minmatar monstrosity needs to go back into the oven for some re-baking, hence the new "WIP" stamps.

At least there's some hope that CCP will change the brick with solar panels look for something a bit more visually pleasing and less amateurish.

Hey, I have nothing against "different" looking-- I fly Tempests, Typhoons, Falcons and Ravens. Please just make "different" look like you've put some thought into it and have some semblance to the rest of the race's ship design philosophy.

When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around.

Not true if you freeze it and give it a wax coating you could.
