Lately when I try to shoot rats my ship loses the ability to target without me being jammed.

As you can see, I'm not being jammed, yet a message keeps popping up saying I can't target anything.

What's going on?

It might be that damn incursion Blink

You're flying a Thrasher, have you tried kicking it?

Seriously though, I have no idea why that's happening.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

The only thing I can think of is it's because you're in an incursion. Hover over the local service distruptions and read them.

edit: damn beaten.

Incursion disruptions are no cynos, no bounties, low resistances, and low damage. Says nothing about ECM, targeting, tracking and so on.
In fact at the time of that capture the last 2 disruptions were greyed out, which I think means they were inactive.

Normally it wouldn't bug me but I already lost a ship to this, so its kind of frustrating.

Have you tried in any other systems or on any other targets? Certainly seems like a bug, especially if for some reason you can't target anyone at all, anywhere.

It's affecting me in every incursion system since their rats are tougher. Normal belt rats I can generally take out in 1-2 shots, before any problems come up.

I'm going to try going into lowsec and see if it affects me on the rats there.

Example of it in a different system.

Definitely a bug. My launcher range is 44km, targeting 52.8km, yet it refuses to fire.

Time to contact CCP, there's probably an option in petitions to report a bug.

While I can't speak to your first picture you posted, think I might know what the issue is here.

Your 44km launcher range - how are you finding that?

The picture with the FOF's is because your targets are out of FOF range.

In the OP's picture, you're certainly getting jammed. That's the message you get when you're jammed.

You seem to be having bad desynch issues where what happens on the server and your client don;t match and thus you dont get any visual cues of being ECM jammed.

Try looking into packet loss issues.

Hovering over weapon.
I have velocity rigs, which increase range by 36.6% from the base 32km. Mainly for the huge edge in PvE, which is completely negated if I can't shoot them...

I know, but there's no jamming symbol or other graphics. That's the rub.

Would packet loss issues present that way? Never had that problem before.

Either way, its looking as though I'm the only one with this issue.

Yes, it can. Packet loss/desyncs can cause severe targeting issues. Normally it occurs only very briefly; extended packet loss typically results in a disconnect. It's possible you're on the threshold just below actually DCing, but still getting severe interference from the packet loss.

I tracked it down, you were right.

For anyone who has this issue in the future, remember not to play EvE while simultaneously being connected to a cloud which borrows your PC bandwidth and CPU.

Gaming while there are intensive processes in the background is a bad idea, confirming. Glad you figured it out, OP, that was a really weird problem.

Good to know, thanks for clearing it up.
