In addition to having an economist on staff, CCP would do well to have someone with expert grammatical skills, one for each localized client available, review all of the text in the game. Still quite a few ridiculous errors. Here's one - post if you spot others. Perhaps we could inspire them to clean this up in the meantime.

The description of the typical unit seems to fit reality pretty well, assuming this was a typical colonization unit. A short inspection of the tracking device shows there is no time to loose, now there are two units in range, the closest one at location...

But what about the differences between British English and American English words? Which should CCP use?

American and British English spelling differences

American of course. UK English is getting out of date by global standards, and more people and organizations are moving to use of Americanized English. It applies to spelling and grammar, and you see more and more use of these new rules on forums, in manuals, and in technical writings everywhere.

People generally find them easier to understand and read, and prefer the less structured grammar to the extremely inundated grammar of traditional English. It's much easier to adapt to for those to whom the English language is a foreign language as well, I imagine.

I had to learn i myself, just a year or more ago, to avoid getting trolled off the forums here for my absurd use of grammar. Fortunately, it took me less than a month to adapt the use of it at the time, and I found people bother me less, and then not at all. School systems here still use traditional English of course, and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.

Shakespearean English fairly well died, with exception to theater and medieval reenactment, and I don't see why the same won't happen to English used in the UK now eventually. Times change, languages adapt to a changing social environment and we all move on. No shame in that.

edit: The primary difference, is that one is much more like talking or holding a conversation than the other. Americanized English is much easier to read, and much easier to communicate in.

I think you're mistaking double-tapping the "o" key and not proofreading for intentional ignorance.

It's not a run-on sentence, though. It just uses commas where em-dashes would be more appropriate.

As a dual US/UK national, I have to say that's a load of rubbish. English is capable of taking a huge amount of mistreatment and yet still be capable of being understood, so using American English instead of the proper form doesn't make any difference most of the time. Sometimes the American version is much clumsier, as in "If I would have . . ." done whatever, instead of the much simpler "If I had . . ." etc.
