This game is shallow

EVE is a very shallow game. Sure, there is a lot of things you can do, but most of them are implemented poorly and are incomplete. There is no one part of the game for me that seems to be incredibly polished and deeply involving. Even null sec, the highlight of this game apparently, boils down to whoever can have the most people online wins.

Planetary interaction blows.

Incursions are overdone by everyone and their mother

I see the same scams over and over, where's the creativity?

Exploration sucks unless you log on right after down-time

Trading is no different than any other game, so it's moot

There are only a few ships worth flying for PvP

Wormholes are a grind

Missions are a grind

Mining is a grind

Station atmosphere is still too ****** to breath

etc

Considering dropping subscription for a few months and trying it out again after the patch, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Honestly, what can we expect to change? I feel like CCP has pursued just shoving as much crap into this game as possible, but everything comes down to very simple mechanics that are incredibly time-consuming yet only engage the player at a very elementary level.

EVE gives you back exactly what you put in. People who play it in a boring, safe way will have a boring safe experience.

That Crimewatch is coming in winter right?

I'm sure it'll really help revitalize the critical highsec PvP component of EVE Online that we've all been waiting for.

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

EVE is what you make it of it.
It's also not for everybody.

Don't feel embarrassed, many before you found it too daunting to create their own theme park instead of having it handed over to them.

Uh, oh - watch out. CCP doesn't want negative opinions on the front page of GD. They prefer that forum real estate is filled with mindless, contentless, yet upbeat threads like "Like and get Likes".

Negative opinions are bad for business, so expect to be locked soon.

What first strikes me as shallow is your research into things like exploration and the market. Also…

I have played the game for two years. As I said, you can invest a lot of time into these activities, yet they still only engage you at a shallow level.

If you compare this game to Ultima Online, they both pursue similar game designs to provide players with things to do, but UO does it so much better. Why can't EVE do it well too?

Both actually. Again, says something about UO. It exists in both an official server and private servers these days

Then you really should know better.

Not quite. You can invest any amount of time you like into them, and the depth is your to choose as well. It seems you choose shallow engagement. This is not because it can't be done in-depth, but most likely because you haven't sat down and figured out how.

For one, EVE isn't design around giving players things to do. It's designed around making players give themselves things to do. From this, it sounds like your problem is a classic theme park vs. sandbox issue.

Well I'm not sure but there is no CCP overlord that has you tied to the computer char and is forcing you to play and pay for eve.

Then again that's just an assumption It could be true and it's completely logical because logic and eve right

People who put passwords on char bazaar Eveboards are the worst.

Good thing that I can fix that if I spend a PLEX.

Sorry a PLEX can't solve your problem. Big smile

Hmm. Feeling another rant, I mean, blunt criticism coming on.

The fact that you are on the forum defending the game instead of actually playing it probably says something about how engaging it is to you

Better pay more attention then, you don't want to be late for those fleet warps. Maybe if you get lucky you guys can bag a few cruisers today.
