Find a corp, run missions with them? Steal other people's ore?
Grab a frigate and fly into nullsec and ask for a job?

If we weren't all paranoid, I'd think that last one could work. But we are paranoid.

But the big one is and always will be to find a corporation to join. You will go insane in the npc corporation.

So mining probably isn't the best way to make a living?

Mining is very time-consuming. It's like working for K-Mart as a checkout chick for $9.00 an hour 3 hours a week.

I have sat at my computer for 8-10 hours a day just mining in a noob ship Navitas for one month and 18 days.

I have accumulated in total 260mill ISK. That amounts to small change in Eve.

So it is a very boring, dull, mind-numbing, stupid, foolish and inferior way to earn ISK.

Why would you sit at your computer mining for 8 hours in a noob ship?

Unless of course you're running multiple Hulks/Retrievers with Orca support. 260mil ISK is all in a days work 'round these here parts...

Can't argue with the boring, dull and mind-numbing part though... Blink

get navitas and fit 2 x miner 1 and cargo hold expanders in the low slots.

also ignore forums. they are mostly too jaded to help you. you're in a great NPC corp ask in game corp chat for better help.

Not sure...
Hang on... Let's ask Chribba.

on a more serious note, Mining can net you a lot of isk, but, in the end to make anything reasonable from it, you'll need to train up for exhumers and strip miners.
even then, the best mining ISK is in either Null sec space or Wormholes. Which are dangerous places for a miner to be.

As others have said, Those who mine are also one of the most common targets for suicide ganks.

Whichever way you decide to play, just remember to have fun. The reason most people are against mining as a proffession is that, at the moment, mining is somewhat tedious. Hopefully when they implement planetary ring mining things will improve a little.

Hang on a sec...

You are a month an a half old as a character, and you're still in a navitas.
There is something wrong with this picture.

if you were looking to do mining as a proffession, which, after a month and a half of straight mining, it would appear you were, you should have been in a barge at least. surely.
ok.. not an exhumer, that's a litte way down the line, but certainly not a navitas.
IIRC my first miner spent some time mining in a cruiser before i got into a barge, but even that would have upped your mining output by a long way.

something tells me that you have to simply be trolling.

Oh please.........I have been playing only a week now and I did a few missions but got bored so I started minning. I have two accounts and in the first five days (count them-5 days) I have bought 2 retrievers (one for each account) plus all the fittings. Thats 20 mil isk each for the ships plus another 10 mil each for fittings total = over 60 million isk in 5 days. That doesnt count all the isk I spent in skill books and other crap. So yeah you can make money in minning. That is if you have an IQ north of 30 and you stop listening to arogant tards on this forum who have no interest other than trying to make themselves look smart at your expense! Giving you 15k like that might have eemed great to you but it was nothing more than smacking you in the face with an insult. Like here noob have some chump change ... now go away and let the adults speak.

Wow. Everyone seemed pretty helpful to me. I think we know we can mine if we want, despite what others say.

A Velator has 135m3 cargo space, that should be 1,350 units of veldspar when full.. how many trips to the station did you take?

Especially now that they've rejigged the training and barges, mining is a great way to be an indy player. You can always make money very easily and you don't even need to train for industrials now the ore bays are enormous.

I've tried station trading and you can really screw that up Lol very, very difficult to mine wrong.

don't get me wrong, I love going on roams with people but this whole second job business is nothing I'm interested in.
