No, ISD's are not needed. You don't get the same quality of work from volunteers that you do from paid employees. ISD's in many cases have shown themselves to be heavily biased towards various people & threads. This is most noticable when a constructive thread is closed which doesn't break any rules.

I've also noticed lately that CCP have been stepping in more & more to moderate threads, which further reinforces the point that ISD's are not needed.

This is who I will be going to for advice, as well as ISD Eshtir. They both do a great job and I look to both them, and my fellow ISD members for support and advice.

I'm still new, and still have a lot to learn, but I sincerely hope that by following their lead I can be an effective part of the team. I love this community, it's an extended family for me in the realest possible sense, and as with any family I want to help look after it as best I can. Big smile

I'm not really taking a stab at ISD's themselves (Did that, came out second best, then things started changing), I'm more taking a stab at CCP for you know... Getting rid of the people who were already doing an awesome job at moderation because they wouldn't work for free, then replacing them a year later with people who would. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

47 hours here? Destroying the forum? get a job, you could be earning some money, having a career. It's either incredibly naive or incredibly dishonest of you to think your team is impartial.
All ISD's are being exploited by CCP & I think it's a disgrace. Imagine a any other million $$ corporation palming off such important work on incompetent volunteers.

My advice to all ISD's is wake up, realize you're being exploited & quit. We don't need you, we don't want you & I and many others don't like you! Why take a job like that as a volunteer? Even traffic Cops get a wage & benefits. & if you're doing 47 hours of this crap to please CCP for free, I suggest you get legal advice, because you should sue the sobs.

Actually, I'm inclined to believe that they already do. I'm not against the volunteer moderators (except when they really screw up), I'm against the concept of volunteer full-time moderation.

i will make this as most as transparent as i can for you:

*) Most of us have full time jobs, others are students.
*) We are volunteers as you stated correctly. We have not been forced to sign up, nor is CCP standing behind us with a whip.
*) As we signed up on our own free will, we do not have a need for legal actions against CCP.
*) As for being biased and impartial, i would encourage you to send your proof to internalaffairs@ccpgames.com
*) It is ok to not like us. We have no hard feelings towards you irregardless.
*) As long as CCP wants us to be part of their game, we will be here and work under their guidelines and policies.

From what I've seen recently, most of the thread closures are justified & it's only very rarely that someone pulls a Stensson.
