Scammed by Goonswarm(yes i hear it happens alot) NEW PLAYERS MUST READ!!

The only thing that kind of gets me is the login splash I got a few days ago had Goon Fed in the page and Goons do not recruit from the public. They have never lied about that but it didn't seem like they belonged on the public recruitment page when thats the case.

I agree, it kind of sends mixed messages when CCP is introducing stricter crimewatch game mechanics one second and then post information on a new player recruitment page about a group that not only scams new players but does not actually recruit in game. Straight

Maybe thats CCP's idea of keeping things balanced. P

As mentioned before, yes, a small amount of research and you could have avoided falling for the scam.

But I like the calm tone of your post - most other threads were people complain about those Goon-recruitment scam were full of tears and rage. You give the impression that you haven' forgotten (yet) that this is just a silly game about spaceships.

You're absolutely right it is just a game until they start trying to convince new people (some of which may be minors or people with mental handicaps for all they know) to spend real life money on plex to cash in for the 500mil isk to give them. Thats where I start to take offense at their actions and begin to wonder why exactly CCP allows this, surely after all these years they're aware of what Goons do, then I notice how powerful they are in game, and how much money they're probably collectively paying CCP in subscriptions and plex purchases, guess thats why.

Its not that I don't feel a lot of rage over this, its just that I see this same crap happen in real life all the time, so why should I expect anything to be done about it in a silly game about spaceships.

It was not a recruitement page it's a list of corp who provide support in any form to newbie. Goonwaffe having what proabbly amount to the biggest newbie program defiantely belongs on that list.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the rules around scamming people is such that outright telling people to buy a PLEX so you can scam it out of them is utterly forbidden.

Now, if someone goes out and buys a PLEX, sells it, and then gets the Isk scammed out of them, that's their own stupid problem. This is EVE - CCP will gladly sell you plenty of rope, what you do with it is up to you.

well said i know that now, lol but i can't stop laughing at the point i technically paid goons for entertaining me.... kinda like a prostitute :P i wasn't sure whether to say something like that but its funny to me :)
