hello

just a silly idea i had.. eve as it stands doesn't really work as play for free.. or better it does if you deal with pilot licences.

Nevertheless it is not a selling point for Eve

So i tried to find a way to get more people to try or come in to Eve.

so here it goes: why not scrapping all together the trial and instead let pay for free happen?

************

i envisage it this way.

the player starts with a new account in the region where he starts and he is locked in that region.

  • he starts in a different noob corp than paying accounts
  • he has the same limitations as a trial account
  • he has access to high sec and maybe low sec (depending on how nice you want to be to them)
  • he can't join factional warfare
  • he can't enter wormholes
  • he can't be ceo of a corp[list]

if the guy likes the game he then pay for it or if he is good enough start buying pilot licences

things may get a little more complicated if a player becomes a paying customer. leaves his space and let the account expire.
to sort the issue you can implement a new mechanic that will pull the clone back to the home station..

So i thought some new mechanics on these lines..

***************

When an accounts expires:

Out of a ship: -character name-: you were kidnapped by a group of sansha terrorists. Luckily a Concorde Task force found you and freed you. You are back with friends, in empire.

in a ship : -character name-. your ship was attacked and disable by a group of Sansha terrorists. an exploring Concorde fleet came by you by chance and managed to rescue you and your ship. You are back with friends, in empire.

and in both cases -. The Sansha's have done something to your clone and some you seem to be unable to remember and use some of your skills (the one trial accounts) cannot use.

Maybe with time you will recover (ie.. mission and get some plexes)

Free high sec gank alts? Sounds good!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

People will create an unlimited number of mining, industry, suicide ganking, and scout alts.
Creating restrictions to prevent non-paying accounts from doing any of these things en mass will just mean that the non-paying player can't really get a "feel" for EVE in any significant way.

The 14 day trial is good enough to give players a taste of what EVE is (it has restrictions, but nothing prevents a trial character from attempting to suicide gank, going into wormholes, and scouting for older players).

Beyond that... EVE isn't for everyone. Even the DEVs have said this. It's the nature of the game that repels people... not the fact that you have to pay (well... unless you're a cheapstake).

Ive suggested this in the past

CCP dont care

They think DUST will revive eve

The are wrong.

barley 30k players online ever atm, null sec empty systems, low sec empty systems, high sec empty systems

They simply don't care

My guess is there waiting for a point to shut eve down

CCP would fix rails before they would prevent ganking. Nice thought though.
