Curious to me how random this is and how it only seems to affect some users and even then with differing levels of severity. I have a retina MBP maxed out 2.7, 16 gig ram. My suspicion is I need to shutdown before I play and after a freeze to reduce the frequency of freezes. Not really sure about this or anything else really. One thing I did notice is sometimes after my client freezes when I reboot and restart my computer the internet signal strength bar will be kind of blinking single bars up and I can't connect to the internet requiring another restart. I often get the socket something or other box when my game freezes. I don't think it's my connection because I can play blizzard games online without a worry or concern, what a difference.

This is probably your problem. EVE is fidgety about your 'net connection. For instance, it doesn't like sharing your internet connection with any Torrent clients.

Notice that I didn't say "the Mac EVE client." If this is your problem, and you switch to the Windows client, the odds are good that it will still be your problem.

Thanks for the information, I hope that helps me cause im always running Bittorent in the background Roll I will check back after I can say that my client hasn't crashed in a while...

Well, that didn't work... my freeze is like it stops at the current frame and the audio that was playing repeats the same second over and over. I am running Skype and Google Chrome at the same time... Tomorrow Im going to try out EVE (the PC version) on crossover... or maybe I will just try to extract the pc stuff from the application.

I make YouTube videos and so on... Watch me do silly things here:

Also confirming that it works fine. No initial delay here. I haven't had any freezes which was a big problem in Lion. Hope that lasts!

Any update? May be this is an unexpected problem solver?

I am running Mountain lion on a 2011 macbook pro, and I am still experiencing constant freezes.
I hope the devs are working on making the mac client more stable!

For the last week Ive been getting lock-ups. This is unusual for me, I normally do not get them. But now Im getting maybe one a day. They usually happen when I web surfing while waiting for the freighter to warp. But one happened without any web surfing, it happened right in the middle of typing in chat.

I'll post here if i get any freeze.

Over the last few weeks I've been noticing random freezes.

One of them I can definitely pinpoint to uTorrent running in the background, as while it was running EVER SINGLE TIME I tried typing in chat. I would get a hard lockup in EVE only requiring a force quit.

The other one is completely random and it happens once or twice every day. For absolutely no rhyme or reason. Sometimes on a session change after jumping, sometimes in the middle of running probes or even on undocking.

My client freezes at times.

This is my MBP Mid 2010 With Nvidia 330M (auto switch)

My OS is Mountain Lion

At first, each time I got frozen, I looked up the monitor and found Adobe Flash Plugin in Chrome. Then I blocked it.

However, I still got another freeze after I blocked the Flash Plugin... So I don't know why.

After freezing, the CPU will be occupied with 100% with System Load on two threads (each thread are on each core - normally EVE will only use User Load)

Hi all felt I had to give an update after taking CCP to task for it's Mac client earlier. I have been playing for a month now with what I would call very good to excellent results. I am not longer experiencing the the freezes that used to plague me and almost had e stop playing this game.

So what did I change? I don't have the game running now but I started playing in windowed and not full screen. I have a MBP retina max specs and tended to run settings maxed out (except for the one that says you need a super graphics card). When I lowered the settings, again in full screen I did not notice any real difference in freezes. I can't really explain why but now my game is very smooth with I think only one or two freezes in a month of play. I would argue it is about the same as others on PC's as I fly in fleets and seem to hear about people disconnecting from time to time. What windowed mode forced me to do was turn down my graphics resolution setting due to the smaller window mode. I may have made a change or two which I can look at if anyone is interested. I also turned off captain quarter. What if anything any of this had to do with my gaming experience I don't know.

It has totally changed my Eve experience and I am now playing regularly and doing fleets without much fear of a disconnect. It still is in the back of mind due to the horrible experiences I had previously but it is all slowly receding and I am enjoying myself very much.

I hope this helps someone or gives someone running the mac client and frustrated some I hope. I do wish to be able to play with my highest graphics settings and captains quarters on but everything is running so well right now I am afraid to jinx it.

What a surprise, yet another Eve blog http://capsuleerconfessions.blogspot.com

Currently experiencing an issue with the client failing to launch; I have attempted this through the EVE Launcher (which works) and the EVE program which would otherwise launch the client.

At this time the menu will change to EVE online, but it will not be an active application, nor does it show up on the Activity Monitor utility. I have had the launcher repatch, and that didn't work either.

Usually this would resolve itself when I restarted or launched the game, but at this time I cannot find a solution to it.

I did something this morning that I usually do not do: Web surf with 3 clients running, doing a mining op (I normally am watching TV or chatting when I do my mining). Freeze, freeze, freeze!

Details:

OSX10.7.5

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro6,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB

Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 512 MB

3 clients running, all seperate clones.

Wireless access to my router, ISP is Time Warner Cable.

Firefox web browser.

Only one of the three would freeze, and the frozen client would remain in fleet until I did a force quit on it. Then that ship would turn green (drop fleet) and e-warp off. Once I gave up on the web browsing, the 3 clients ran fine. Also I can normally run one client and web browse without a freeze.

CCP Konflikt, I hope you are still working this. If you are, try running 3 clients, using wireless, and web browsing. It may take 5 or 10 minutes.

Sitting in station docked, environment off (static screen) everything froze after 10 minutes, had to use monitor to shut it. If this happens during a fleet and I loose a ship wonder if CCP will reimburse.
Had to switch to mac due to work stuff and seriously considering changing game if this continues to happen.

Same here .

I have a Non-Retina MacBook Pro form 2012 / Mountain Lion .

It happens randomly, sometimes 10 mins , sometimes 30 mins, in station, outside the station, during a fight .. you never know , but it's very annoying .

In some cases CMD+ALT + ESC and Force quit it's enough to quit and restart eve. In another cases I can't even do that, I have to force restart the laptop.

I also noticed internet connection drops. I mean the internet it's working fine (I have a second screen and I can test that ) , but in eve , it's not, it just suddenly drops. I can see the modules cycling red over and over again or doing the same thing , but I can't do anything, or send messages.
Ex: I can click on the Character Panel, I see all the buttons ( Skills, Attributes, Implants, etc.. ), but when I try to click on any one of them , nothing happens. . I have to restart Eve to make it work again .

This both problems happened in Full Screen and Window mode.

And like Taihbea mentioned, It might happen in a fleet , we loose something very expensive like a Carrier, Dread or whatever. Is CCP gonna reimburse us?

This thread has 17 pages, so it's obvious not only me or 2-3 players..
We are all paying the same amount of money to play this game .. I think we should also deserve more attention in fixing these problems.

Just got another one. Same sort of thing: start eve, undock start first warp with the freighter, start web browsing, go back to eve, its locked up.

It seems to happen quickly. That is if its going to lock up it will do so in the first 5 or 10 minutes. As time passes it seems to get more resistant to locking up.

I have this happening to me everyday, its causing me to completely stop playing the game, I have filed multiple pititions in-game and always get the same response of "we cant do anything because we cant tell that it crashed"

Well Here is the proof, I have lost about a billion isk in ships from this "issue", and no assistance for any of the Devs.

This is the crash.

CCP does not accept screen shots as proof of a crash induced loss. Reason: They can be created via photoshop. Or better, a second program on your computer that forces eve to crash. That way whenever you are about to lose a ship you crash eve, take a screenshot, and request a refund.

Because of this they do not trust any information coming from the client or the user. They only use what is saved on the servers.

But CCP still needs to fix the freeze and crash issues.

Hello,

I experience crashes every 10 - 15 minutes, sometimes less. I've resigned to bootcamping my iMac in order to hopefully correct the play issue, but I'd really like to be able to play on OSX, as that's where everything else I own is installed.

Computer details:
Mid-2011 21.5 Inch iMac
2.5 GHz Core i5
4 GB DDR3 at 1333 MHz
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
OSX 10.8.2 (12C60)
10 Mb Cable through LG U+ (Stationed in South Korea). Dorm room is hardwired, ethernet from wall, to wireless router, then another ethernet from router to iMac.

I initially thought it was a heat issue, so I got a fan controller program and keep my fans at max settings while I play, keeping my gauged temperature to ~95 F. Didn't help the issue.

Next, optimized graphics for Performance through the client. Didn't make a difference.

Tried shutting down all other programs for the duration of play, no joy.

might as well add to it

iMac9,1
2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB DDR3 @1067 MHz
ATI Radeon HD 4850 (512MB)
OSX 10.5.8

Consistently and completely crashes system within 5 minutes in a hold-the-power-button-down-whilst-cussing-to-ten sort of way (three guesses as to when it started, the first two don't count). Plusgood, when I start the computer back up again, everything sounds like it is loading up---but I still have a blank screen and can't seem to get anything to work other than to perform the aforementioned button holdy maneuver, and restart again. Much teeth gnashing later, I can confirm: empirical evidence suggests that graphic settings have no impact...

Dear CCP,
I promise: as soon as I can reliably play, I will buy a shiny ship and travel posthaste to Amamake. And, when I will cry my inevitable carebear tears---they will be good and enjoyed by others. Until then, my sad is wasted.

late 2011 MBP with mountain lion, all latest updates, etc.

game freezes randomly, usually within 10 minutes of playing sometimes sooner sometimes 20-30 minutes in. Unplayable right now, cancelled sub. I'll check back before it runs out to see if I can even play yet and if not then I'm gone.
