I'm probably not the only one who is not impressed by the recent logo additions. While I really appreciate the speed in which new logos are put into the game now, it really appears that whoever deals with the logos at CCP doesn't really care about quality any more at all.

These are the guidelines which used to be followed quite well.

Now let's have a look at how they are supposed to look like. I'll throw in a few logos that in my own opinion fit into EVE very well and might as well be NPC corp logos in regards to quality:

I think these are prime examples of what they are supposed to look like in a perfect world.

Let's go on to the logos that don't exactly fit EVE's style but nevertheless are of great artistic quality and certainly don't disturb the feel of EVE. This would be the most common type.

There's dozens more of these, each of them are striking with either detail or simplicity.

Then there's the rather questionable logos. Logos that look like they've been done with paint, that aren't quite terribly awful but not really that pretty and/or looking like a 12 year old has made them. Note the random black/white background that looks like total crap ingame:

Now, I think you can put up with these examples, despite most of them barring any artistic skills whatsoever.

But then there's also the ones whose approval I can just not comprehend. They don't only ignore the guidelines given by CCP, but they totally lack creativity and seem to have been made only to get rid of the alliance logo placeholder given by CCP. Fitting into the game, eh... They are atrocious and make me wonder if the guy at CCP was either REALLY drunk/high or has lost his ability to use his eyes:

How did these make it through the submission process? They don't follow a single of the design rules that CCP has given and make me feel embarrassed for all the newbies that are trying out EVE.

Generally agree tbh, which surprises me. Pl logo is definately in the top catagory though. Some are terrible. Still if they want to fly under those banners its up to them i guess.

On a side note I'm surprised CCP haven't tagged on a PLEX price for alliance logos yet.

"Look and feel of eve" is highly subjective. Who are you to determine if someone's logo is acceptable or not?

And your alliance logo is pretty cool, but OP probably hates it.

Anyway, I think the OP is forgetting that EvE's a bit different than your average Sci-Fi property.

The lives of the common people who aren't pod pilots may be very serious and grim-dark, as commonly seen in the chronicles.

But the lives of it's pod pilots clearly aren't. A central tenant of EvE has always been that we, the players, shape the universe. And by extension that means we shape the culture and lives of pod pilots. This universe isn't just filled with serious men and women led purely by instincts of survival and greed.

This universe has a rather large population of sociopaths and psychopaths who've been immortalised through technology and are now flying around in giant space ships shooting things just because they can. They band together in corporations not in the pursuit of profit or power but in the pursuit of amusement and murder. They fly not with decades of training and a quest to leave their mark on the universe, they fly with alcohol coursing through their veins looking for a few laughs. They fly not under the carefully designed and clean banners of the empires, they fly under flags of their own delusional devising.

That's EvE. That's why all these wacky alliance logos are perfectly fine. Because, judging by the actions of the player-base, most capsuleers are simply batshit crazy.
