Base value of minerals when calculating insurance of ships

Hey all,

I want to be able to calculate the insurance cost of any ship in Eve however to do this I need to know what the base value of each ship is.

Does anybody know what the minerals are that CCP uses when in regards to ship insurance?

Many Thanks

I don't know how often the value is updated but if you're using the static data there's a basePrice column in the invTypes table, I'm guessing that's what you're looking for (although it may be out of date). Exactly how they calculate it - I have no idea.

You should be able to do it by getting 1 ship for each mineral (variable), finding the mineral composition of that ship, and the insurance payout then combining the equations.

For instance (totally made up numbers):
Rifter 300,000(insurance payout)=450(Trit cost)+500(Py cost)+100(Mega cost)

Then take another ship, solve for Trit cost and plug that into the first equation, another solved for Py cost, and so forth.

It's fairly simple algebra.

Oh, and base price isn't a widely used value. Base price sets each mineral's value as twice the value of the next lower ranked mineral.

Or you could just read the numbers from chrukers DB. The insurance values have not been modified since launch, as far as i know.

This was the first placed I looked but the values are out of date.

They have been. There was a big to-do about it when mineral prices finally started to rise as CCP phased out various price ceilings. Insurance Fraud was profitable on a large scale for quite some time, so they fixed the values to some average, and they manually change the insurance values on occasion.
