Racial Battlecruisers - How to keep your Battlecruiser Skill.

Hello!
I hear that they are making the Battlecruisers and Destroyers skills racial.
I believe they also said that you would be able to fly anything that you were able to fly before hand.

From the way that I interpret this, if you have Battlecruisers or destroyers to level 5, and have all the
prerequisites for each destroyer and Battlecruiser then you will receive level 5 in each of the racial skills
when they change it.

So, I trained both Battlecruisers and Destroyers to level 5 and have the ability to fly each tech 1 BC and Destroyer.
Does this mean I will get level 5 in each, or do I have to have it so that I have the ability to fly each tech 2 Destroyer and BC which prerequisite BC and Destroyers 5?

Just a bit of a question, if they have release more information on this subject I would love a link to it.
Thanks,

Hi Michael,
I feel in a generous mood, but not too generous so be warned, and I will help clarify. There is a developer blog about this which you can search yourself in the DevBlog listing.

But to cut it short: the skills themselves are nice BUT are dependent on which frigate / cruiser skills you also have. For example: if you only have the Amarr frigate and cruiser prerequisites then you will only get those destroyers and battlecruisers.
The upcoming changes are only important if you have cross trained into any other faction (Caldari, Gallente, Minmitar) for which you then get credited with having the new upcoming racial destroyer and cruiser.

Also, people, please do look up the developer blogs. Please. It does show a kind of laziness.

To be perfectly fair, the blog does not detail the mechanism for how CCP will accomplish the "if you could fly it yesterday, you can still fly it today" principle. We have assumed that this will translate into free racial BC/dessie 5 if you have BC/dessie 5 and racial cruiser/frigate 4 across the board. But we don't know that, and we have no indication that CCP even knows exactly what mechanism will be used to allocate skill points.

If I can fly ALL Destroyers and Battlecruisers with MAX bonus, any patch that does not allow me to continue doing so in exactly the same way is unfair, and makes no sense.

I believe I am entitled to all racial Destroyer + BC skills at V, and if I don't get them, I'll be pissed off.

Please understand that getting all those new skills at V will not make my character better or more powerful in ANY situation whatsoever. Much on the contrary: my clones will become much more expensive with NO advantages at all over what I can do today.

Everyone seems to think you will need the cruiser skills to level 4 but they are not actually required to fly BC's currently you can fly all tech 1 BC's with cruiser 3 some clarification on that would be nice.

Hmm... I hadn't actually considered the clone aspect.

Though CCP has mentioned reducing clone costs and other clone changes (I think I saw that in the last CSM meeting minutes).

The clone aspect is just icing in this bitter cake.

I'm not happy because I might receive a crapton of USELESS SP which will mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to me.

I'm worried because CCP might decide I have to train weeks or months just to return to where I am TODAY.

I mean, before the Winter expansion hits, I'll be able to fly all BCs and Command Ships at V.

If I'm NOT given all racial BCs at V and gives me Gallente BC V only...WTF do I do? Waste another month to be able to fly my Sleipnir? Then another one for the Nighthawk and then another one for the Absolution?

**** no. I want to stay THE SAME. I won't even complain about increased clone costs, but I have to REMAIN able to fly the ships I can fly today, at THE SAME level of proficiency.

I am severely banking on the fact I've got all four frigs V, BC V, Dessie V, all four cruisers V... >_>

Don't rip me off, CCP! I'll be good, promise!

Dude, chill. They said that's what would happen, just didn't explain the mechanism. Free sp is one option. Another would be to remove the BC and dessie books but not the skills themselves, effectively accomplishing the same thing. Making the skills trainable might/might not happen.

You're several months late on the rage. To be fair, my first reaction was the same (and yes, I'm BC 5, dictor 4, all races) but the clarification on your point came almost instantly.

Honestly, I still don't like the whole idea; one of the neat things about BCs was that they opened cross training to newer players. But I'm confident I'll still be able to hop in any ship with the same level of ability after/if this change takes place.

I'm also wondering why people keep saying you need racial cruiser skill at 4 too. As far as I know, you only need racial cruisers at 3 to fly each battlecruiser.

Is it because CCP may increase the prereqs when the changes come? Even so it still shouldn't affect the bonus because of the "if you could fly it before" rule.

What they should do is Keep Destroyer and Battle Cruiser Skill. They are very nice stepping stones for new players for easier cross training.

The few changes they should make is implement them more into the tree.
To fly Racial Destroyer should require Racial Frig 4
To fly Racial Cruiser should require Destroyer 4 And Racial Frig 4
To fly Racial Battle Cruiser should require Racial Cruiser 4
To fly Racial Battleship should require Racial Cruiser 4 and Battle Cruiser 4

It keeps the current path of reaching 4 before going onto the next class of ship, and leaves in the ease of cross training.

I am just stating my point. Quite calmly, in fact.

Also, no. I'm not months late on the rage. There is, in fact, no rage whatsoever (LOL).

Simply, I am explaining how things should naturally be, for those who still suspect or suggest otherwise.

I think so. Still, racial Cruiser III to IV is 3-ish days, so better safe than sorry.

Well its actually around 16 days to move your cruiser skills from level 3 to 4 due to their being 4 of them. Which wont be to bad an idea with the new cruiser changes but its still a significant time investment just to hopefully make sure your previous one wasn't in vain.

If you want to make sure you've covered all the basics... Train Interdictors and Command Ships both to 1.

when will it happen: after battlecruisers are rebalanced. I just saw in patch notes a couple days back, that two of the frigates are done POINT BEING>> you still have enough time if you start now.

in my opinion, pretty generous of CCP to give the heads up. sort of a benefit to EVERYONE who is currently playing EVE.

As long as this got necro'd, might as well post the answer from CCP for anyone thinking about starting another one of these threads:
