bitcoin advocates argue against other currencies due to their nature as "fiat" currencies, but since the value of bitcoins is dictated by the market and the willingness of people to use them, isn't it a fiat currency itself

there is no bank in the Bitcoin world, MtGox can be considered a bank to keep the coins (safe wallet) but it just a exchange https://mtgox.com/press_release_20120831.html you ca see that they do only that no lending
