Do you remeber when a 60b titan loss was a major event?

Do you remember when a 20b scap going down was earth-shattering?

You do?

So why is a highsec gank on a 2b freighter loss such a big deal?

Who really has the most influence in Eve these days?

Quote:
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

I've heard a lot of veteran stories from the early days of this game and I can't help but get the impression that people enjoyed this game a lot more years ago than they do today, maybe CCP should listen to old vet stories and have a long think about why that is.

Why you no make Dust 514 for the Megadrive CCP?

Well that is the question, I guess we find out this winter.

Whatever CCP is planning they better plan it well because it's not even October and people are already complaining about an expansion that is still months away. Lol

You need to get out more. Right now stories are being passed around in Goonswarm about the supercarrier we killed the other day and the heroic dictor that orbited it for over an hour, dropping bubbles and avoiding death while people peeled off from 30+ jumps away to come help kill it.

These stories are still told, they just haven't become legend yet, that's all.

huge losses aren't super big deals but stories are still told. not to long ago an alliance tourney ship was killed in a wormhole epic kill.

agreed but we're still in an era where people shrug about it now. never used to be that way.

I think what the OP means is that when it happened, it was actual news. Blueberries were posted on the news screen at log in and it was relevant and exciting right then and there. It didn't need time to build up, it was breaking news.

These days, the sense of awe and wonder has been removed from the game. It's all so commonplace, no one really cares, even those who participate now versus those who made history then.
A reward devoid of risk is no reward at all, but is instead a handout.

The alliances involved don't shrug about it. Underlying the "blow it off" attitude is a smouldering layer of butthurt and anger any time a major strategic asset is lost.

yes it is news to the alliance. no it's not news to anyone else anymore.

i could be wrong but when a freighter being ganked is news and a super being held for an 1hr by a hero isn't - ya gotta wonder.

The old farts need to stop worrying about days of old and get on board with the inevitable future, no sense crying about the good old days and blah blah blah (insert tears). Many people think this game is better than ever, it's the so called elite that want the new and the poor to sit on the back of the bus to hang onto their 'good ole days'. Change is good for some and bad for old farts, take some Viagra and get over it and go blow something else up.

Back when I started playing in January 2010, which wasnt that long ago, tritanium sold for around 2.00 ISK per unit. A billion ISK could buy you alot of subcapital ships, now you can't hardly do anything without at least 5 billion ISK in your wallet.
