How does plex work in this situation?

If I've buddy system'd my friend and chosen to get a plex in reward. If I buy a plex for my buddy and he uses it do I get a plex?

Yes.
That is if it is a legit buddy.

But if your "buddy" keeps making more buddies too and most of those buddies and buddies of buddies get abandoned after 51 days, CCP will get angry.

No you dont get a plex.. Your buddy has to use his credit card or pay pal in order to activate his account. There is a one time 5 euro fee for account activation as well as the monthly subs.

You do not get your plex until he does that.

Just in case this is read wrong an accounts subscription would not be classed as "active" until you have paid the one time 5 euro activation fee. Which as far as i am aware can only be done with credit cards, money transfer, etc.

Yes your new alt subscribing with a plex will work.

The biggest headache would be actually giving that plex to the new account as you cant have a trial and a full account logged in at the same time and you cant accept a contract on a trial account

I don't get it though as i'm really dusty, my Account is over 6 years old...

Wouldnt the buddy have to buy the game first ? Or do you just buy plexes and be good with it now ?

I'm asking because this is exactly our situation, i talked 2 other friends into the game and now their trial is running out, whats the best way to do this ? I cant just give them plexes, can i ?

You can and I have, many times had trail and full accounts logged in at the same time, the issue is getting the plex from one account to the other. In the end I just can flipped myself to get it, I suppose using corp hangers at a station would work too.

What we're actually doing is removing both hisec and PvP from the game entirely. It seems like the fairest way to solve this problem. - CCP Grayscale  - CCP troll BEST troll <3

Why didnt i get a plex then when i created my char 2 months ago and i used a plex?

He is asking if when you send a buddy invite and choose your reward as a plex, if you activate that account with a plex, do you still get your rewarded plex?

Cause to my knowledge you dont as i did it 2 months ago and didnt receive one.

This is correct. Unless you find a way to pay only the $5 fee, PLEX will not give you a PLEX for the buddy system.

Well your knowledge is wrong (Edit: lol I didn't mean to sound so dickheadish, really I didn't.). You get your buddy plex if your buddy uses a plex to sub for his first month. I have done it 3 times (my 2 alt accounts and RL buddy). A one month sub costs $15 USD, one PLEX cost $20 USD. So as you can see every plex you use has that 5 dollar activation fee. Everytime you use a PLEX someone paid 20 bucks for that month instead of 15.

This is not correct... As I explained above every single PLEX used has that $5 fee included. CCP likes when people use PLEX, because they get an extra $5 a month. Not that I am complaining, seeing as I use PLEX for half of my accounts, and cash for the other half.

Please don't give misinformation to people, especially newer guys. That's not good for the game.

A PLEX works perfectly to activate a buddy account, I've done it with several times for myself, kids and friends.

But what people often miss is that while a buddy trial is 21 days, the rules for getting the reward is that the trail must be converted to a full acount within 14 days.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Just in case this is read wrong an accounts subscription would not be classed as "active" until you have paid the one time 5 euro activation fee. Which as far as i am aware can only be done with credit cards, money transfer, etc.


I have done the buddy system about 10 times, and it certainly counted as an activation with PLEX every time.

Just to clarify.

The most expensive sub is 14.95/mo, and the most expensive PLEX is 19.95.
The cheapest sub is 10.95/mo (if you pay for 12mo in one go).
All PLEX offers but the 1x PLEX offer come out at 17.495 per PLEX, and sometimes special offers can make it come a bit cheaper.

I came on in the buddy system because of a frnd, i bought three months and im talking a buddy into playing with me. but i cant select to recive a plex i can only get game time. how long do i have to wait to get that benefit?

you can just give money to him you know, like isk... then the alt buddy can buy a plex and use it.
