Back when CCP was a small company, publishing an MMO unique in the field of MMOs (unique since the days of the original Ultima Online, at least), CCP had some serious viking attitude about it. This was a game made by people living every single day on a goddamned volcano. They didn't brook any calls for the pussification of their game. There was little difference between the attitudes of the hardcore players and the employees developing the game. This was a pitiless, brutal game. It was a true sandbox. The players decided conflicts, the game didn't limit those conflicts artificially (even given CONCORD intervention in high-security space.) They didn't so much as say these things outright, but the attitude on the forums and in the blogs spoke it plainly. "People are going to try to ruin your day. Get together with others, ruin their day back." "Harden the **** up players. This isn't your little sister's pussy Asian instant-messenger MMO. This is mother***ing EVE Online." "Watch your back, because no one is watching it for you."

The years crept by. EVE Online grew. CCP grew. Dreams beyond EVE began to foment. Vampires. First-person shooters. Console gaming. Microtransactions. No longer content to just be the niche player on the block, they wanted to be recognized far and wide as innovators. Not an unnoble goal to be sure, but how you go about reaching that goal is important.

Can you explain why you can't just post your rants musings here?

I mean, shoot, you don't even have advertising on your blog to make these pretty obvious "read my blog" posts into something profitable.

Just sayin'....

I don't mention E-Uni at all. I don't even make a vague mention of them.

Vampires are hardcoren, FPS are deadly, Supose WiS, could use some wet floors, and no handle-bars for stairs to add some danger.

CCP also added a remember the best scams against ya in the rookie forum section.

Monocle added protesters to the game, maybe they arent dangerous, but they are always getting arrested.

Poetic, please post more threads.

There's what, 25 spaces on the first page, and you only have two of the threads copying stuff from your blog.

It's because he has a little graph of hits, and he likes it when it goes up. It makes him more space-important.

Good article.

Even 4 months later its hard to believe they released a single walkin closet with a dressup vending machine that spits out some bits when you drop a gold bar in the slot.

I guess it remains to be seen if this new reaction desperation mode will put the game back on track. If CCP had to be dragged kicking and screaming back to focus on critical fixes, I dont really see it as a win.

Whatever "dev" it was that removed the pod squish sound probably never even logged into the game.

Are you feeling butt-hurt because you thought you could use your "time in E-Uni" metric to fool people into thinking your corp is full of 3-month old or less newbs? And I called you out on it?

Your entire post is about how CCP started well, ****** things up, then apparently got back on the right track again only by ******* things up again by doing the things you have been complaning about non-stop for days on end now.

But hey that is your opinion... youre entitled to it. Just stop spamming it ffs.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

Not at all, I've replied to that thread already. Are you upset about something? Would you like to talk about it?

Please point to where I said E-UNI is nothing but three month old and younger characters, or otherwise had some kind of "time in E-UNI" metric I was specifically measuring something against?

Retention rate is a pretty basic thing in MMOs - especially when it comes to the 2nd and 3rd monthly subs which tend to be the point where players continue to play, so I would have thought that E-UNI having a number of people who have been playing for more than 3 months would be a good thing, especially when you consider we haven't been recruiting much in the last month, people tend to stop playing so end with older characters before they join us, and CCP have been running the "come back to EVE" stuff fairly heavily.

I believe the relevant meme here would be "proof or STFU", both with the above 'accusations', and your data showing the alleged magical numbers.

Isn't it time for you to start another thread, anyway?
