Help with Combat Skill Planing

Ok so i i want to be a Explorer/Salvager i preety much understand now the Basics of Salvaging/Hacking/Analyzing lets say the "Main Job" but what combat skills would a dude like me need ? I mean i am not a offensive type of player but i still dont want to take sh!t from NPC's and Players while Doing my thing. So how do i decide what combat skills to learn ? I would like to create some wrecks on midle hard npc's and maybe of a player or a hard npc comes i can cloak and disapear to safety ? In the Endgame the plan is to follow my corp mates around to the sites i found and stay behind salvaging, hacking and analyzing while they kill off
The rats. So any advise what skills would suit my style ? Is there a guide that could help me decide ?

For low rated system a frigate or cruiser will be fine.
For higher rated systems a Battleship will be needed.

Theres basic info in the evelopedia, and a small section on combat sites in "everything wormholes" towards the end.


for highsec sites, you'll never need anything bigger than a cruiser
Train it's tanking skills (Std Cert will be fine)
Train it's weapon skills (Std Cert will be fine)

for nulsec/wormholes you'll need a Battlecruiser or Battleship and quite probably friends too.

Exploration T1 Frigate -- Required/Recommended Tab will list skills/certificates
Covert Ops Frigate -- Required/Recommended Tab will list skills/certificates
Noctis -- Required/Recommended Tab will list skills/certificates

Other Certificates of interest to you are "Field Technician" & "Cartographer"

You won't be able to open a lot of containers until the NPC's guarding them are popped. I'd aim for a drone boat, like Vexor --> Ishtar or Arbitrator --> Pilgrim.

You think a Catalyst with 7x125 mm Rail Guns + 1 Combat Drone Wouldent do the trick ? At Hacking,Archeology and Salvage sites i mean ? The rest would be my salvager, codebraker and analyze modules ...
