Angel Cartel Occupied Mining Colony vs Ishtar

I am having problems getting through this site with my Ishtar. I have been mostly taking on Blood Raiders and Serpentis 4/10's without any problems. But now that I have moved to Angel space it has been a whole different story. I can't keep up with the DPS being dealt in the 2nd room. I have changed the my armor hardeners to compensate and use a Centum B repper but I keep having to leave the site. Last time I had to abandon my drones. Does anyone have a armor fit for an Ishtar against angels or do I need to change to a shield fit? Thx

A shield fit is gonna be much better, but another option to consider is buying a gila for use in angel space (rather than destroying the rigs in your current ishtar fit). Trying to armor tank an Ishtar against explosive damage is asking for a headache.

Just fly away from the rats and range+signature tank the rats while you kill the excavator and nothing but the excavator. Bookmark wreck and let the plex de-spawn. You are doing something horribly wrong flying the ship, IMO. Ishtar isn't ideal vs. explosive but this is a low-end complex and it can be completed in a Rupture or Arbitrator.

Angel rats are a PITA when flying Amarr as well. Amarr tends to be an armor-tanking, EM-and-thermal damage race...which the Angels are very strong against. I tend not to take armor-tanking ships against Angels at all. Minnie ships are the best against Angels, with Caldari missile boats like the Drake coming in second (mainly because you can use Nova explosive missiles for damage).

But it evens out: my Amarr Harbinger eats Sansha and Blood Raiders for lunch. It evens out. If you plan to mission for different races (and against different pirate factions), then you need to skill up in all four races at least through the battlecruiser hulls. People tend to simply default to the Drake as a "do it all" ship for missions, but I find that it's both more fun and more efficient to choose the ship and loadout for the enemy profile.

And if you think the Angels can be tough PVE oppenents...try the Sleepers! Omni-damage, strong tank, speed, and they'll web, scram, and neut you. Those damned Sleepers are tougher than some human opponents I've faced.

Novas don't help at all if you have BC 4 or 5 and don't do much more at BC 3. On RoF bonused hulls, of course use Nova though.

Why would you fly an Ishtar in Angel Space? And an armor tanked one to boot? You're basically not making use of your T2 resistance bonuses that way. I can't see it as anything other than counter productive. With that being said... it can be done, and easily, it's a 4/10. The fact that you found problems doing it means you're not flying it properly imo. Linking your fit and drones would help.

Angel is a hard one to armor tank for. Best thing with that fit that you could probably do is drop the drone amps (yea you will lose DPS) to fit a second explosive hardener and maybe a Damage control. Increases your tank a fair amount.

Guns on an ishtar are utterly useless, you should put a single civilian gun there to direct drones aggro (or none and use "f" key). Dropping the two guns should give you more room for tanking. If you're using sentries, you can drop one drone damage amp and put a sentry rig instead. Are your hardeners passive or active ? Depending on your armor compensation skills, enegized plating could be enough (and kinetic b-type aint that pricey). If you drop one or two damage amp, you can fit a damage control who doesnt have stcking penalty and thus is quite good for you (plus gives you some room if you need to get into stucture) and another explo hardener or a second repper for when things get rough.

Fitting two explosive hardeners to your Ishtar will yield a better result versus Angels.

If you can, try to look on BC for a Shield/Passive fit, will work fantastic and tanks better than armor imo

Thats a big ass explosive hole. Angels do mostly explosive, then kin, then the others. Ishtar has massive kin and thermal resist already and as you armour tank em is quite decent for the tiny amount of em angels do. Explosive is a massive hole for gellente t2 though. You have under 60% resist to explosive with over 90% to kinetic. This means you take more than 4 times as much damage through explosive (which angels do more of) than you do through kinetic.

TLDR fit 2 explosive hardeners, the kinetic is unnecessary.

if your goal is only to get the overseer loot, just warp in the second room, drop your drones in the overseer, bookmark is wreck and warp out. wait for two minutes and warp back to the wreck. Easy.

This works most of the time.
But, sometimes you will make nice gifts to others :)

It happened to me twice to find 4/10 sigs, warp to them, first room clean and in second only the overseer loot :)

So, before you warp out, make sure you dscan behind you to make sure nobody is coming Bear

Can take on the 4/10, 260 drone dps with my ... not... too well skills, tanks somewhere around the 300dps vs Angels. First time i tried i had to warp out, luckily the Gila that entered after me had to do the same. Once you land in the 2nd pocket, burn away from them . I guess the direction would be 7 or 8 o'clock , release valks, kill overseer, then make a loop above the 2 groups and approach the wreck in a wide angle. Take down the cruisers in the meantime.
Can also take on the whole spawns in Angel Watch first pocket with only triggering wave after wave and killing the militant officer, however some overheating might be needed when last spawn appears. i usually activate warp with ~25% shield. Cap lasts for ~5 minutes, so yeah, no worries on that.

iI'm also considering dropping the Kin hardener for a meta Invul. Other possibilites are dropping the battery and the sba and strap on a Dread Guri Large Booster and run it with a Capbooster. In this case, you should also be able to drop the PCU rig and can fit another invul or a sebo or whatever you like.

Before you invest in another drone boat, you had best read the dev blogs on the NPC AI changes.
