Hello everybody ,

The reason i am writing this is that i hate to spend hours or Days on learning a Skill or Spending millions of ISK only to discover a month later that the skill/item acquired is no use to me.
I am new to the Game and my plan is to get in to Salvaging and specialize at it. Reading all the Guides and what not i got that the skills i need for starting a career as a Salvager are not so many and it is by most People called a side profession. So i decided to add explorer, Hacker maybe to the Build. But that is still a side Profession.
So i thought to advance in those two professions and while doing so get me a Gallente Destroyer and learn the Game better.
I hope at that point i would have enough experience to advance the rest in combat skills.
My question is would a specialized Salvager/Hacker be viable in Eve ? And could i learn enough combat skills to fly around explore and create my own wrecks ?
Ofcourse the ultimate fun would be getting in a nice active corp follow my mates on missions with a dedicated salvage ship.

So what do you think ? Salvager/Hacker/Fighter on a Gallente Destroyer ?

For now focus on running missions in a combat ship.

I say this because you need income right now.

The profession specifically you are talking about is exploration. Scanning down sites and hacking/scanning/salvaging your way to big isk.

The problem is most of the big pay outs are in null sec. To do this with less risk you need to train toward a tech III ship fitting an interdiction nullifier and a cov ops cloak. This combined with tank, dps and one or two gadgets will, get you into and out of sites with your hacked salvaged or analyzed loot.

Also if your the member of a null sec alliance living in null sec space this can afford you slightly more protection then just meandering through null sec on your own.

Null sec alliances can improve there space and actually increase the frequency of profession sites spawning in there systems, which is another good reason to join them if this is your career of choice.

Yes this profession can pay out. Hope this helps

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

If you want to be a salvager then a destroyer makes a good choice.

The new kid on the block is however the Noctis. This machine is built with fast and effective salvaging in mind.

Exploration IS viable as a career path but what you find very much depends on luck as well as skill!

Below is a link for Eve Uni's Wiki - careers in particular.

Good luck and clear skies...

Those 3 seem to be ok, at least I know pilots who do sal/hac. I buy any skill I can train!! Because what you find fun today may change tomorrow. I am not a fan of the Catalyst but that is me. If you are going that route, look up all the needed skills and make your plan to get as good as you can. Focus, focus, and more Focus!! This to me is the hard part, because there is always that one more skill I need!! :)

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

My experience is that destroyers make nice little exploration craft. Even with a salvager and probe launcher fit, you have more than enough firepower to take on most site guards and some combat sites. And since a good score can buy me a half-dozen destroyers or more, I don't mind taking them into lowsec. The primary disadvantage is that nailing down a handful of some weak-signal sites is difficult or impossible.

Exploration frigates are probably getting buffs this winter to handle highsec guards or fit a basic cloaking device better.

Honestly salvaging skills don't take that long to train and you will find them useful in the future. Very few wrecks require high levels of skill to salvage. That said a pure salvage has the problem of finding wrecks which means convincing someone to let you salvage their missions. This can be annoying if you aren't in a mission running corp.

As mentioned before salvaging skills don't take too long to develop. A good all purpose craft is a t3 strategic cruiser such as the Tengu or loki; most likely for you the tengu. However that requires a decent few months of skill commitment . But the ship offers a decent covert scanning ship as well as enough punch to some degree of pve to create some wrecks to salvage. Essentially you want to be able to 1. scan sigs, 2. make wrecks/clear sites/ 3. salvage them. The t3 would allow you to combine the first two steps.

From what it sounds like though for the time being, you probably want to find an active WH corporation. I dealt with some french gentlemen with Talocan united. Good guys, and wh space sounds like it offeres the best environmetn for what you want to do. Null sec does as well.

Ok so i preety much understand now the Basics of Salvaging/Hacking/Analyzing lets say the "Main Job" but what combat skills would a dude like me need ? I mean i am not a offensive type of player but i still dont want to take sh!t from NPC's and Players while Doing my thing. So how do i decide what combat skills to learn ? I would like to create some wrecks on midle hard npc's and maybe of a player or a hard npc comes i can cloak and disapear to safety ? In the Endgame the plan is to follow my corp mates around to the sites i found and stay behind salvaging, hacking and analyzing while they kill off
The rats. So any advise what skills would suit my style ? Is there a guide that could help me decide ?
