After reading the blog on the forthcoming test on the Buckingham server I some what foolishly folowed the instructions on the blog to get on to the Buckingham server ahead of the rush to be a part of the forthcomming test.

After successfully getting on to the Buckingham server I turned it off and made an attempt to return to Tranquility to play the game.

ShockedShocked Bad times my usual desk top link to the game and tranquility no longer work and I get redirected to the Buckingham server.

Yep I checked and douible checked I had followed the blogs instructions to the letter and did not tamper with the origonal CCP file.

I have deleated the copy folder but alass what ever patching took place during the Buckingham server launch it would seem the patching has gone to the origonal folder and not the copy folder as I would of expected it to.

Brilliant a big thubnmbs up and a reinstall with its many dangers and time wasting implycations to follow Cheers CCP you guys are GENIUS!

Warning no animals were seriously harmed in the making for this post ...how ever a hampster was slightly shocked but he is making a full recovery.

I blame my self for blindly following the instructions instead of using my own common sense and stayong far away from it. Good Luck every one.

I followed the instructions exactly and I had no problems. Are you sure you followed them correctly (specifically, making sure that the shortcut pointed to the Buckingham installation).?

Tranquility is far more reliable than it was when I first played Eve.

I would like to, but have never used any of the other servers, SiSi etc.

I have read far to many horror stories about how it can screw up Tranquility.

Pehaps CCP could produce a simple reliable system for using the other servers.

P.S. I am not very computer literate, so, easy, simple and reliable is goodSmile

This is not a signature.

Seems as though you copied the original file. The copy of the launcher shortcut still pointed to the original folder and you only added the server target change. So that copy you deleted was still TQ and your original was Bucky.

I trust that you know how to control these newfangled computers to get it to work.

That is possible and very plausable but this is not the first time I have dealt with test servers and the like, the instructions on the blog are there to be seen. May be the patch looks for the origonal folder and not the copy folder to install to.

As the blog tells you to launch using the short cut made with in the copy folder you would expect any patching to go to the place you launched from.

Any way as I said good luck. Re-installingin......... I may be some time.......

The Blog says " or you can copy your Tranquility (TQ) install to a different folder. In the latter case, create a shortcut to that folder's launcher."
It asks you to create a new shortcut. Likely to avoid people modifying the copied shortcut that leads back to the original install.
The instructions were solid. You just got excited.
