Hello, I'm moving away from guns and onto missile's but I can't see the difference between the different launcher types. I'm looking to use a Nighthawk for running level 4's. Can some on give me the short answer on what the difference is between Assault, Heavy Assault and Heavy missile launchers? Also, do the what are the key attributes for T2 missiles I should be worried about? Thanks in advance.

Assault Missile Launchers are just faster Light Launchers (I think they're called Rapid Light now). Heavy Assault are like rockets, short range but high-volume firepower. Heavies are the opposite, like mini cruise missiles.
Explosion velocity, damage, and all the usual stuff for missiles. Nothing to 'worry' about really, just pay attention to your skills. At least up to four for the supports.

real short answer....you want heavy missiles. they fit easier and have range.

the only time I used assualt on a bc frame was in 0.0 when all I could get for pve was frigate invfested Ca's (belts all tied up, the good ca's tied up to). Nice frigate wiper and cheaper ammo, not much use beyond that. Also used once or twice when a carrier freind let me tag along on havens and sanctums. He jsut spammed larger drones on the BS', I killed frigs. Was decent for cleaning them out faster to move on to next one.

Heavy assault can be good but you have to chase ranges. Lots of lv 4's get you way out. And there you are going well guess I have to walk ot these pockets for a bit to even start to kill. Player preference here as always....jsut not my scene. Also ham is pita to fit....eft before you run off and buy a fit around them.

heavy missles launchers II on nighthawk is the way to go, nice firing rate, you can use t2 missles but TBH I use t-1 scourge for most missions or t-1 equivalent for rat specific. I only use t2 missles on some (very few) missions only because rats may be bit teethy.

Appreciate all the help. I was laughing with my brother over this (he's been play Cal since we started), he couldn't give me a straight answer. While trying to explain guns in general to him, I might as well be speaking Latin. Now to PYFA a build for me and see what will work.

HML II in the highs, BCUs and a damage control or sensor booster in the lows, tank and afterburner in the mids. if you wanna get fancy, add an auto-targeter in the free high slot.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Nighthawk is a missile spewer, train all your missile support skills to 5 and spec at least 4 to get the best out of them.
+5 dps/explo radius implants are not very expensive (if you have lp's go for it). Has a huge tank but don't expect to get out of it a lot of dps. Cheaper than Tengu thou.

Basically when it comes to missiles you have guided and unguided. Guided being generally longer range, and smaller damage volumes, vs unguinded; short ranged, high volume damage.

Unguided Missiles
Rockets===>Heavy Assault Missiles===>Torpedoes

Guided Missiles
Light missiles===>Heavy Missiles===>Cruise missiles
=====>Rapid Light Missiles*

*Rapid light missiles use light missiles, but the launcher has higher CPU/Powergrid than than of a Light launcher because it's designed as an anti frigate weapon for cruisers, fires the missiles faster.
