Shield Power Relay II

This is something that's been bugging me for a while now, and I haven't heard any indication that it's something being worked on.

Right now, judging by their attributes, the Shield Power Relay II is worse than its meta 4 counterpart. They give identical bonuses to shield recharge rate (24% each) and identical harms to capacitor recharge (-35% each). However, the Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I requires 16 tf to fit while the Shield Power Relay II requires 22 tf.
Now if I'm just missing something here, I'd like to know, but as it is, the tech II module is just worse than the meta 4 version. So something here needs re-balancing.

A lot of T2 mods are identical to their Meta 4 siblings in all but fitting requirement, which is pretty... um, senseless, yeah.

No it doesnt a lot of meta 4 items are equal to the T2 version.

The Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I performes just as well as the T2 scrambler for instance. I mean the list goes on and on...

The idea behind this is that the meta 4 version is supposed to be much more expensive then the T2 counterpart. Aka train to fly cheaper.

And in many cases it is, but you're right in the case of SPRs the meta 4 does just as well and is much cheaper which shouldnt be the case.

Meta 4 should equal expensive and with SPRs they are not, for whatever reason...

Meta 4 items are only expensive when they are popular on pvp fits, thus high demand and they are constantly removed from the game when ships go pop.

And passive SPR drakes aren't a very popular pvp ship....Hence the cheap price.

Every meta 4 gun is as good as a T2 with lower fitting costs. The ammo is the advantage as well as the specialisation skill damage bonus.

Perhaps something along these lines would make sense for other modules?

It has been suggested, at least as a fix for meta 4/T2 plates (comp skill for reduced mass). Obviously that's going nowhere now and T2 plates are just getting more raw hp.

Meta 4 items are in limited supply because they have to drop randomly from NPC's
T2 items can be manufactured by players through invention and rare T2 BPOs

T2 should perform the same or better then their Meta 4 counterparts yes. But their fitting recuirement has always been high and should continiue to be so. There's no reason for them to be universially better then meta4.

There are some items where the meta 4's are better than the T2's stat wise. I know it's being worked on but meta 4 armor plates are better than t2, the reason is besides the lower fitting they give the same armor boost as well as adding less mass to your ship (your ship is faster with meta 4 plates than t2)

It makes the game not that straight forward that some Meta 4 Items are better and others worser then their T2 counterparts. It adds spice to the game and rewards those who take the time to do the math. So everything works as designed, please move on and find a new issue to whine on.

this! it just adds some sort of complexity to the game. it's good that there are some meta 4 items which outperform their tech 2 counterparts in some attributes.

before i joined my pvp corp i was a mission runner and even as an utter pvp noob i could bring something to the table when we discussed fittings because i knew which meta 4 items were easier to fit with no disadvantage to their T2 counterparts.
