I have just reactivated my accounts after a several year break and I'm not sure I still care for my toon's name. Is there a way (other than starting over) to change a toon's name?

Hmm.... Not sure if troll?...

If they could possibly be offensive to some one in some way you can report yourself. If not, you're SOL.

Well, if it is offensive you can have it changed to "[insert race] Citizen [insert long number]".

Otherwise... not really.

Oh well, thanks for the quick reply.

That is something they could develop though. Pay X amount of real world money and have the old name and date of change logged in your profile for ever. Also could limit it to once or twice only. We would not want it to be too easy to escape your history would we.

Many would argue we would not want it to be possible at all to escape your history. As a corp recruiter (and now CEO), the prospect frightens me.

No no I get it , I do all I am suggesting is the name the corp history would still be the same and the old name would be right there above the corp history

Like I said make it expensive and limit it to once or twice ever.

Oh, I see. That would be fine, but I suspect heavy on backend coding for CCP.

Hey, at least you are not named 000AAAtestchar, which would put you on top of everyone's local and targeting broadcast.

There's literally no reason not to implement limited name changes.

One per character. No PLEX required, just a single use. Include name history in character sheet and link all APIs and old character names with the new character name.

I'm happy with my name(s), but I can see why a one-time recorded change would be useful: spotted a typo (Catpain Kirk would benefit from this), decided you wanted to stop ruining immersion and name yourself something sensible, wanting to start over after a hiatus with a changed personality, but keep the skills...

Blatant alt posting? In my EVE? It's more likely than you think.

I'd be happy with the ability to resculpt one's character within a certain amount of time. I don't know how many characters I've gone through because I got sick of how they looked or didn't notice some tiny but annoying imperfection until it was too late (OCD can be a ***** like that).
Its good to be [Gallente](http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1209/QEQlJ.jpg).

Actually if youd have it on the character history like a corp history you could do it once a year like neural remapping. Though once a year would be confusing.
Id be interesting though given availabilities for names at different times though if CCP could code the old name into the new one somehow then duplicate names could work as they would have different histories. But I doubt itd ever happen.

Have you heard anything I've said?

I don't see an issue, so long as they have in corp history -NAME CHANGED FROM XX TO XX ON 0000.00.00-. I also wish CCP would purge some of the names of very very old inactive accounts.

I could see this as being a fine vehicle for that just like how ppls names get changed to Caldaricitizen2903848230 or whatever for offensive names, just change all the inactive accounts names to those and then allow reusage of that now available name.

For the sake of permanent consequence and being able to search for characters while only remembering their name, I think only adjusting capital/lower-case letters would be the most sensible option. A character name is essentially a permanent alias, while the "real name" of your character remains hidden.

This won't alienate corp search history and gives those who want to rename a way to deal with their predicament by personalizing their current alias.
