Dear CCP,

Do you have any plans in the non too distant future to provide Mac users with Eve voice again?

It clearly does not work, at all.
There is a significant amount of the game which uses it, and which, for various reasons cannot support a 3rd party voice program RVB/Public Incursions for example. It worked fine(ish) before the last few patches, so is it really a massive haul over?

For once can mac users been put a little bit higher on the priority list. We put up with the rest of the faults which never seem to get fixed and just accept burning laptops, low graphics and solid red/green stations, but the lack of EVE voice actually prevents a number of us playing the game.

Hi Nihassa,

We are acutely aware of the EVE Voice issue that has been plaguing Mac users and general client stability. We are also aware of how important this fix is. However this is a very complicated issue involving a number of our third party partners.

We believe we may be close to a solution, but cannot make any commitments to a date. We are however determined to get this out as soon as possible. Trust me when I say I want to see this fixed as much as you do.

A small update on this issue.

We are in the process of testing a fix for users being disconnected or not being able to connect to EVE Voice on the Mac client. So far the results look very promising and this should be available for testing on Singularity soon. This fix should bring the Mac client in line with the Windows client in terms of performance and usability. We will announce when this is available on Singularity for testing.

In a related note, we have further planned updates for EVE Voice, for both the Windows and Mac client, which should improve the performance and quality for all users. This is on a much longer timeline though, but should be announced to players in due time.

I was just coming here, without hope, to see if this had been addressed.

Last night I finally sold off my Incursions ships, as they're useless to me at the moment.

Man, please let this work. So much isk I'm missing out on :]

Hello everyone,

We are in the process of pushing out a new build to Singularity. I will update when it is live.

This build includes the fix I mentioned previously regarding the issues many of you have been seeing with EVE Voice. I would be very grateful if those of you who were experiencing this could have a look on Singularity and report back here if your issue has been fixed or not.

I will check on the build myself but your feedback is invaluable in confirming the fix.

First 40 minute test was good. But it can take longer for the bug to show. Is there a chat channel where I can be fairly sure there will be speech going on?

Yeah, can you just leave a mic in Hilmar's office connected to an eve voice channel?

I am sad to report that on the latest sisi build this bug is still present. For a full description of it see bug report #114881, made on an alt account.

What happens is the message "You were logged out of audio chat" pops up, and you lose all audio chat and cannot join any channels. The bug can (usually) be cleared by going to the esc menu, turning off, then turning on "eve voice enabled". In this way the bug can be seen repeatably without having to re-log. But sometimes after this procedure selecting "join audio chat" results in no audio chat, and that option remains when right clicking on a chat tab. At that point even re-logging does not clear the issue, I have to reboot the computer.

Edit: It took about 4 hours of being on sisi for this bug to show the first time, then about 60 minutes the second time. The second time locked me out of voice chat. BH RubberBAND, you may think it looks good because you did not wait long enough. This behavior of time making it worse has been around as long as this bug. Its like something builds up in the computer and finally clogs audio chat.

Hey Vincent,

I am actually running tests on this daily, some of them very long (in excess of 6 hours). I haven't seen any unexpected disconnects on my end (this is connected to the Singularity client). I did poke our local EVE Voice specialist and he stated that there is an idle kick, which may be an issue. 60 minutes of purely idling may trigger this, I would be interested in two things from you though to see if we can track this down:

1. How exactly are you reproducing this? The more detailed you can be the better (what channel are you connecting to, are you creating the channel when you start up, or is it existing already? The devil is in the detail as they say)
2. Could you add the following to your info.plist, at the bottom:

(key)CiderGameOptions(/key)
(string)eve.exe /end /vivoxlog(/string)

Where ( is <
And ) is >
Cannot inject HTML

This will generate a Vivox log in your cache:

~/Library/Application Support/EVE Singularity/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_singularity/cache

I suspect that the issue you are experiencing may not be Mac exclusive, but rather linked to planned work we have to make EVE Voice better. If you experience this again could you enter a new bug report. The one you mentioned is already attached to the defect that is being handled to cover this issue, but I would like to see updated information.

We expect to run a mass test next Thursday most likely on Singularity and will give EVE Voice a beating while we are at it. We appreciate your input Vincent and we will keep pushing until this issue is resolved.

Ive had it happen 3 times. In all 3 times I was connected to the Singularity chat channel, with audio active.

2 were with me doing very little and could well be due to inactivity. The last one was right after I undocked, and I undocked after having the client sit with me afk for over an hour.

One was while I was helping someone else test a different bug, and we were both using voice. It was certainly not due to inactivity. However, it was about 15 minutes before a scheduled shutdown of Sisi. Do you shut down the voice early? After the voice disconnect I could not restart voice.

I was on my MacBook Pro, connected via WiFi to a cable modem.

Note that it is happening much much less. On TQ it typically happens in minutes, and very rarely takes as long as an hour. So you have made it better, and thanks for that.

Ill Add those lines to the info.plist next test session. Oh and look for Gaia Ma'chello if you want to know when Im testing. I use that pilot for sisi testing.

I've been part of a fleet this night in SiSi for 3 hours and did not encounter a single "lost audio" or "get DC when joining fleet"

My system : MBP 4,1 2,5Ghz core 2 duo, 3Gig, Geforce 8600M GT.

Next step : joining multiple channel and fleet, activating multiple times eve voice.

Edit : tested again : multiple join/quit eve voice, in fleet, outside fleet, in/out station etc
I wasn't able to reproduce any crash/DC.
One thing to notice : the activate/deactivate eve voice option is now reliable and the game react smoothly to that option conecting to eve voice server very quickly. Deactivate the option, you get the "log out of audio chat". Check that box again and eve voice works again.

When will this fix be released ?

Done a few more hours of testing. So far if I do a little of something to prevent being dropped due to inactivity and stay away from scheduled down time, it keeps working.

Still no failures as long as I keep active.

But now I cannot get Sisi to run at all. The client gets into the endless loop of patching, running, saying its incompatible and the patch has been down loaded, patching, then running... over and over.

Ill keep trying to get on. CCP RubberBAND, does this new build have the voice fix? And if it does, does that mean we get it on TQ on Tuesday?

Sisi patch was ****** for me as well. had to redownload the whole thing.

Incremental patch wasn't able to be downloaded manually for some reason.
